"This book considers climate as well as weather but its principal focus is everyday experience. Weather and climate differ in duration and scale. Unlike the weather, which we can see and feel at a specific time and place, we cannot directly perceive climate because it is an idea aggregated over many years and across a region. Weather Architecture further extends Hill's investigation of authorship by recognising the weather as a creative architectural force alongside the designer and user. Although he acknowledges the influence of the client, contractor and engineer, the relations between the designer, user and weather are the focus of this book. Environmental discussions in architecture tend to focus on the practical or the poetic but here they are considered together. Rather than investigate architecture's relations to the weather in isolation, they are integrated into a wider discussion of cultural and social influences on architecture. The analysis of weather's effects on the design and experience of specific buildings and gardens is interwoven with a historical survey of changing attitudes to the weather in the arts, sciences and society, which leads to a critical re-evaluation of contemporary responses to climate change. At a time when environmental awareness is of growing relevance, the overriding aim is to understand a history of architecture as a history of weather and thus to consider the weather as an architectural author that influences design, construction and use in a creative dialogue with other authors such as the architect and use"

"Pengamatan unsur cuaca secara terus menerus merupakan hal yang sangat penting, untuk mengetahui kondisi cuaca sesaat, data pengamatan cuaca sesaat dan yang lampau dapat digunakan untuk memperediksi kondisi cuaca yang akan datang, informasi keadaan cuaca sangat diperlukan mendukung aktifitas umat manusia. Pengamatan unsur cuaca berupa Temperatur, Tekanan udara, Kelembaban Udara, Arah dan kecepatan angin, Energi Surya, serta jumlah curah hujan hingga saat ini masih banyak dilakukan secara manual dimana kesalahan akibat faktor manusia (human error) sering terjadi, sementara bila dilakukan secara otomatis akan mempermudah kerja manusia, serta menghindari kesalahan yang diakibatkan faktor manusia. Pemanfaatan mikrokontroler serta beberapa sensor dapat berfungsi sebagai alat akuisisi data, dengan menambahkan beberapa alat pedukung seperti sarana penyimpanan data serta alat komunikasi maka terbentuklah suatu sistem pengamatan cuaca otomatis atau yang sering disebut Automatic Weather Station (AWS) dengan ukuran yang kecil (portable) serta konsumsi daya yang rendah. Hasil penelitian ini telah berhasil membuat suatu prototype AWS yang selanjutnya dapat dikembangkan untuk keperluan meteorologi dalam mendukung tugas pokok Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi dan Geofisika (BMKG) sebagai pengamat unsur cuaca.

Observations of weather on a continual basis is important, for the present weather conditions, weather observation data the past and the present can be used for weather prediction for the future, the weather information is needed to support the activities of mankind. Elements such as weather observation temperature, air pressure, Air Humidity, wind direction and velocity, radiation on the sun energy, and the amount of rainfall at this time to do much manually where errors due to human factors (human error) is often the case, while if done automatically will facilitate human work, and avoid the mistakes that caused the human factor. Utilization microcontroller and some sensors can function as a data acquisition tool, with several add supporting tools such as data storage facilities and communication system then created an automatic weather observation system, or often called the Automatic Weather Station (aws) with the size of a small (portable) and consumption power is low. Results of this research has been successfully made of a prototype aws which can further be developed for the purpose of meteorology support basic task Meteorological Agency, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) as an observer of the weather."
