"This book aims at showing how big data sources and data analytics can play an important role in sustainable mobility. It is especially intended to provide academicians, researchers, practitioners and decision makers with a snapshot of methods that can be effectively used to improve urban mobility. The different chapters, which report on contributions presented at the 4th Conference on Sustainable Urban Mobility, held on May 24-25, 2018, in Skiathos Island, Greece, cover different thematic areas, such as social networks and traveler behavior, applications of big data technologies in transportation and analytics, transport infrastructure and traffic management, transportation modeling, vehicle emissions and environmental impacts, public transport and demand responsive systems, intermodal interchanges, smart city logistics systems, data security and associated legal aspects. They show in particular how to apply big data in improving urban mobility, discuss important challenges in developing and implementing analytics methods and provide the reader with an up-to-date review of the most representative research on data management techniques for enabling sustainable urban mobility "

"Cities in developing countries are facing intertwined urban mobility challenges: urban sprawl and traffic jam.Having not enough reliable and standardized public transport supply means the residents are forced to opt for traveling by private vehicles such as cars or motorcycles. There is a swell of tailpipe emission and economic losses due to traffic jam. Overcoming urban sprawl and at the same time building massive public transport is not an easy feat to accomplish, as both require immense investments and years of construction. Therefore, citiesmust have innovative plans to increase public-transport coverage and articulate density through paratransit formalization & digitalization, demand management, and land consolidation."

"The urban environment - buildings, cities and infrastructure - represents one of the most important contributors to climate change, while at the same time holding the key to a more sustainable way of living. The transformation from traditional to sustainable systems requires interdisciplinary knowledge of the re-design, construction, operation and maintenance of the built environment. Sustainable Urban Environments: An Ecosystem Approach presents fundamental knowledge of the built environment. Approaching the topic from an ecosystems perspective, it shows the reader how to combine diverse practical elements into sustainable solutions for future buildings and cities. You'll learn to connect problems and solutions at different spatial scales, from urban ecology to material, water and energy use, from urban transport to livability and health. The authors introduce and explore a variety of governance tools that support the transformation process, and show how they can help overcome institutional barriers. The book concludes with an account of promising perspectives for achieving a sustainable built environment in industrialized countries. Offering a unique overview and understanding of the most pressing challenges in the built environment, Sustainable Urban Environments helps the reader grasp opportunities for integration of knowledge and technologies in the design, construction and management of the built environment. Students and practitioners who are eager to look beyond their own fields of interest will appreciate this book because of its depth and breadth of coverage."

Urban space is a space that consists of many boundaries between buildings, the elements that occupy it, and the activity that happens in it. The urban space condition of a city always changes as times goes by, especially in a developing country. Beside a building construction that happens in a city, the transportation development in a city is also a big factor that affects the condition of an urban space. Since the 20th century, the issue of sustainability has become the focus of discussion around the world to maintain the continuation of our future generation. Since then, the concept of sustainability has been applied in many aspects in the world, such as transportation. The sustainable transportation not only solves the mobilization problem, but can also help us maintain th state of our environment, economic, and social condition for our future generation. So it needs different facilities than a normal transportation. The sequence between these facilities and their sustainable transportations can create a different, more sustainable movement and activities pattern in a city. This different in transportation, facilities, and the activities happens in there is the cause of urban space change in a city. This thing also happens in Jakarta. Because of the issue of traffic jam and air pollution, since the government of Sutiyoso there are many attempt to apply the concept of sustainability in Jakartas transportation, such as the application of PTM (Pola Transportasi Makro) transportation design that consist of Busway, MRT, LRT, and pedestrian approach that creates a sustainable movement in Jakarta. This scientific paper will discuss the sustainable movement and how it exist in urban space, especially in Jakarta. "

"The book on sustainable automotive technologies aims to draw special attention to the research and practice focused on new technologies and approaches capable of meeting the challenges to sustainable mobility. In particular, the book features incremental and radical technical advancements that are able to meet social, economic and environmental targets in both local and global contexts. These include original solutions to the problems of pollution and congestion, vehicle and public safety, sustainable vehicle design and manufacture, new structures and materials, new power-train technologies and vehicle concepts. In addition to vehicle technologies, the book is also concerned with the broader systemic issues such as sustainable supply chain systems, integrated logistics and telematics, and end-of-life vehicle management."
