"The book presents a comprehensive view of channel degradation arising from fading and shadowing. Various statistical models including simple, hybrid, compound, complex and cascaded ones are presented with detailed derivations along with measures to quantify the deterioration such as the amount of fading, error rates and outage probabilities. The models range from the Rayleigh and Rician through Suzuki, generalized K, cascaded and alpha-mu and similar ones. This is followed by the analysis of mitigation of fading and shadowing through diversity (simple, hybrid, micro- and macro- level) and combining algorithms. The density and distribution functions, error rates and outages are derived and results analyzed to quantify the improvements. The effects of co-channel interference before and after the implementation of diversity are also analyzed. To facilitate easy understanding of the models and analysis, the background information in terms of probability and random variables is presented with relevant derivations of densities of linear and nonlinear transformation of random variables, the sums, products, ratios as well as order statistics of random variables of all types. The book also provides material on digital modems of interest in wireless systems. Thus, the book with 1100+ equations and 350+ Matlab generated figures and tables is an ideal source for students, educators, researchers and professionals in wireless communications allowing access to information currently unavailable."

"This book provides a system-level approach to making packaging decisions for millimeter-wave transceivers. In electronics, the packaging forms a bridge between the integrated circuit or individual device and the rest of the electronic system, encompassing all technologies between the two. To be able to make well-founded packaging decisions, researchers need to understand a broad range of aspects, including: concepts of transmission bands, antennas and propagation, integrated and discrete package substrates, materials and technologies, interconnects, passive and active components, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of various packages and packaging approaches, and package-level modeling and simulation. Packaging also needs to be considered in terms of system-level testing, as well as associated testing and production costs, and reducing costs. This peer-reviewed work contributes to the extant scholarly literature by addressing the aforementioned concepts and applying them to the context of the millimeter-wave regime and the unique opportunities that this transmission approach offers."

Wireless Avionics Intra-Communication (WAIC) is the standard of future avionics communications systems, which will substitute wired-communication in a single aircraft. The WAIC systems do not provide any communication between air-to-ground, air-to-air, and air-to-satellite. The WAIC systems are designed for enhancing the efficiency and reliability communications systems of the aircraft. The purposes of the systems are monitoring, controlling, and communicating the parts of the aircraft, such as landing gear, wings, nacelles, vertical stabilizer, engine, etc.
This paper simulate and analyze the interference between WAIC and Fixed Service systems at 22-23 GHz. There are two scenarios interference between these systems. Each scenarios are found the protection distance. The first is maximum protection distance between aircraft and Fixed Service is 1.45 km to protect the WAIC from the interference of the Fixed Service systems. The second is to protect the Fixed Service systems, the separation distance and the airport do not be able to less than 45 km. This paper have analyzed that the 22-23 GHz band is suitable to support the development standard to WAIC systems. Also the WAIC systems is compatible with the Fixed Service systems in that frequency band.

The cellular network continues to grow due to the increasing needs of users. Recently, the 5G network has offered not only higher capacity mobile broadband known as Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) but also Massive Machine-Type Communications (mMTC) and Ultra-Reliable and Low Latency Communication (uRLLC). These promising applications require high data transfer, especially in fronthaul networks, to support radio access to users. The millimeter wave-based bidirectional Radio over Fiber (RoF) technology is prospective for 5G fronthaul due to its reliable link performance. However, dispersion has become an issue in obtaining an optimum performance in desired distances. This research designs a bidirectional radio over fiber system and studies a dispersion compensating fiber (DCF) optimization. The system is analyzed with Bit Error Rate (BER) and Q Factor parameters by varying distances and bit rates. The bidirectional Radio over Fiber system achieves the standard at 1-2 km with a peak bit rate of 16 Gbps for the downstream scheme, while the upstream scheme achieves the standard at 1-4 km with a peak bit rate of 16 Gbps. Moreover, the bidirectional Radio over Fiber system with DCF shows a 150% increase in signal quality for the downstream scheme and a 140% increase for the upstream scheme by meeting the standards at 1-15 km with a peak bit rate of 16 Gbps.
