"In the United States, the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) of 1988 describes requirements and guidelines for implementing a quality control/quality assurance (QC/QA) program for moderate and high complexity laboratories. These requirements and guidelines apply to Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) laboratories as well. The general topic of QC and QA as it pertains to in vitro fertilization (IVF) and embryo transfer (ET) is extensively reviewed. This review summarizes many of the QC and QA events that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in this biotechnological field. These events include control of the culture environment inside and outside of the incubator, as well as factors that affect culture media. This review also discusses, in considerable detail, the QC and the QA that pertain to equipment used within the laboratory and how to control for potential contaminants, which reside within the laboratory. This review provides evidence to indicate the need for laboratory personnel to monitor quality improvement issues on a continuous basis. Personnel must be willing to change as improvements in technology occur in order to meet the ever-evolving demands of a more difficult patient population. Suggestions for meeting these demands are offered."

The Clinical Parasitology Laboratory of the Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia is a specialized national reference laboratory for parasitic diseases in Indonesia. As a laboratory that has been accredited A and a national reference laboratory for parasitic diseases in Indonesia, it should be able to set a KPI target for the satisfaction of users of laboratory service users each year greater than 82%. Problems are encountered regarding KPI satisfaction of users of the Clinical Parasitology Laboratory FKUI which does not reach a minimum of 88.31% according to Permenpan No. 14 of 2017 concerning the Community Satisfaction Survey for service quality regarding service unit performance is very good. This study aims to determine the conditions related to the quality of health services regarding the Clinical Parasitology Laboratory, FKUI. This type of research is a qualitative study using a case study design. The research was conducted in October and November 2020 at the Clinical Parasitology Laboratory of FKUI with 7 informants from the FKUI Clinical Parasitology Laboratory, namely the head of the laboratory, laboratory staff and 6 patient informants who carried out examinations in the laboratory. The results showed that from the dimension of reliability in terms of human resources, it was actually sufficient, but because the Clinical Parasitology Laboratory of FKUI, apart from accepting patients who came but also carried out research and education, it caused double jobs for employees and resulted in one of the causes of the long waiting time for services. laboratory. In terms of assurance, officers are still considered less skilled in performing actions compared to other laboratories. And the physical evidence in the laboratory still needs to be repaired or considered so that customers can feel comfortable. The results of this study suggest to streamline the supervision of SOP implementation by the laboratory coordinator so that employees in the laboratory unit carry out services in accordance with existing SOPs, need a waiting time indicator to improve laboratory services, workload analysis and adjust workforce according to their workload."
