"Tuturan atau ujaran yang berisikan kesantunan digunakan untuk menciptakan komunikasi yang baik dan harmonis. Dalam penelitian ini penulis membahas prinsip kesantunan yang ditulis oleh Geoffrey Leech. Menurut Leech prinsip kesantunan dibagi menjadi 6 jenis maksim yaitu; maksim kebijaksanaan, maksim kedermawanan, maksim pujian, maksim kerendahan hati, maksim kesepakatan dan maksim simpati. Metode penulisan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif melalui pengumpulan data. Objek yang digunakan pada penelitian ini berupa film yang berjudul Hoe Duur Was De Suiker karya Jean Van De Velde. Di dalam film ini telah ditemukan Kesantunan maksim yang berjumlah total 74 tuturan yang terdiri dari 6 maksim yakni maksim kebijaksanaan terdapat 37 tuturan, maksim kedermawanan terdapat 5 tuturan, maksim pujian terdapat 11 tuturan, maksim kerendahan hati terdapat 2 tuturan, maksim kesepakatan terdapat 7 tuturan dan maksim simpati ada 12 tuturan.

Speech or utterances that contain politeness are used to create good and harmonious communication. According to Geoffrey Leech there is a principle of politeness which is divided into 6 maxims; the tact maxim, the generosity maxim, the approbation maxim, the modesty maxim, the agreement maxim and the sympathy maxim. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method. The object used in this research is a film entitled Hoe Duur Was De Suiker by Jean Van De Velde. The politeness maxims that have been found in a total of 74 utterances have complied with 6 maxims. In the tact maxim there are 37 utterances, the generosity maxim there are 5 utterances, the approbation maxim there are 11 utterances, the modesty maxim there are 2 utterances, the maxim of agreement there are 7 utterances and the maxim of sympathy there are 12 utterances."

"Manusia menggunakan gaya bahasa untuk mendukung proses penyampaian informasi yang mereka coba lakukan. Pemilihan gaya bahasa dapat dipengaruhi oleh kondisi emosi yang sedang dirasakan oleh seseorang. Sebagai contoh, penggunaan disfemisme untuk mengekspresikan kejengkelan, ketidaksukaan, atau kemarahan seseorang. Hoe Duur Was De Suiker merupakan film Belanda yang memperlihatkan konflik antara kulit putih dan kulit hitam dan situasi perbudakan pada abad ke-18 yang terjadi pada sebuah perkebunan tebu di Suriname. Beberapa ujaran yang disampaikan oleh tokoh dalam film mengandung disfemisme. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui jenis dan fungsi disfemisme yang muncul dalam film Hoe Duur Was De Suiker dengan menggunakan teori Allan dan Burridge (1991 & 2006). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis deskriptif. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat enam jenis disfemisme dengan posisi tertinggi pada jenis hinaan dan terdapat sepuluh fungsi disfemisme.

Humans use language styles to support the process of conveying the information they are trying to deliver. The choice of language style can be influenced by the emotional state that is being felt by someone. For example, the use of dysphemism to express annoyance, dislike, or anger in someone. Hoe Duur Was De Suiker is a Dutch film that shows the conflict between whites and blacks and the situation of slavery in the 18th century on a sugarcane plantation in Suriname. Some of the utterances conveyed by the characters in the film contain dysphemism. This study is conducted to determine the types of dysphemism and its functions in the film Hoe Duur Was De Suiker by using Allan and Burridge’s theory (1991 & 2006). This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive analysis approach. The results of this study indicate that there are six types of dysphemism with the highest position on the type of insult and there are ten functions of dysphemism."

"ABSTRAKJurnal ini membahas mengenai aspek pragmatik yang terdapat dalam film Belanda Hoe Duur Was De Suiker 2013 . Aspek tersebut adalah tindak tutur dari kedua tokoh utama dalam film Hoe Duur Was De Suiker 2013 yang bernama Sarith dan Mini-Mini. Tindak tutur digunakan dalam suatu percakapan agar penutur dan mitra tuturnya dapat mencapai tujuan dari tindak tutur tersebut. Penulis menganalisis hal ini karena penulis ingin mengetahui apakah makna interaksi yang terjadi antara kedua tokoh dapat tersampaikan dengan baik berdasarkan tindak tuturnya atau tidak. Setelah diamati, di dalam film tersebut hanya terdapat 16 percakapan antara Sarith dan Mini-Mini. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan teori tindak tutur oleh Austin Searle. Penulis hanya akan memasukkan percakapan yang memiliki unsur ilokusi direktif. Setelah dianalisis, dari 16 percakapan yang ada di dalam film tersebut, hanya 9 percakapan yang megandung unsur ilokusi direktif. Dari 9 percakapan tersebut, hanya terdapat satu percakapan yang tidak berhasil dilakukan oleh penutur, yaitu Sarith dan mitra tuturnya, yaitu Mini-Mini.

ABSTRACTThe focus of this study is pragmatic aspects which appears in a Dutch Movie Hoe Duur Was de Suiker 2013 . The Speech Act which is used by the two main characters in the movie named Sarith and Mini Mini, will be analyzed through this study. In a conversation, Speech Act is used so that speakers and partners can achieve the purpose of the Speech Act. The purpose of this study is to know the meaning of the interactions that occur between the two main characters are conveyed properly or not. The method of this study is descriptive qualitative using The Speech Act Theory by Austin Searle. Once observed, the two main characters contains only 16 conversation in the movie. From 16 conversations, only 9 of them has elements of directive illocutionary. The result shows that from 9 conversations, there is only one conversation that is not successfully carried out by the speakers Sarith and partners Mini Mini ."

"ABSTRAKHoe Duur Was De Suiker merupakan film Belanda yang memberikan ilustrasi dan visualisasi mengenai kehidupan di era perbudakan pada abad ke-18 di perkebunan tebu Berseba Suriname pada tahun 1747 di bawah kekuasaan Belanda. Gula pada masa itu menjadi komoditi yang sangat menguntungkan di pasar perdagangan Eropa namun menyebabkan penderitaan bagi kelompok tertentu. Jurnal ini akan membahas tentang kehidupan perbudakan di Berseba terkait dengan judul film. Dua pertanyaan yang mendukung pembahasan jurnal ini yaitu bagaimanakah makna duur diilustrasikan terkait dalam film tersebut dan bagaimanakah makna duur divisualisasikan lewat simbol-simbol di dalam film. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah memberikan paparan tentang kerasnya kehidupan pada masa perbudakan dan simbol-simbol kemewahan terkait dengan komoditi gula. Analisis dalam jurnal ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif yang mengurai makna sitasi duur mahal, dari perspektif semiotik pragmatis. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa gula pada masa itu memiliki nilai yang sangat tinggi, bahkan melebihi nyawa manusia. Sepatu, nama, topi dan cinta dalam film Hoe Duur Was De Suiker adalah simbol-simbol kemewahan yang tidak didapatkan begitu saja oleh semua orang terutama budak.

ABSTRACTHoe Duur Was De Suiker is a Dutch film that illustrates and visualizes the slavery in the 18th century sugarcane plantations in Berseba Suriname in 1747 under the Dutch colonization. Sugar at that time became a very profitable commodity in the European trade market but caused suffering to certain group of people. This journal will discuss the the slavery at Berseba, associated to the film s title. Two questions that support the discussion of this journal are how the meaning of duur is illustrated in the film and how the meaning of duur is visualized through the symbols of luxury. The purpose of this study is to reveal the hardship of life of the slave and symbols of luxury associated with the sugar commodities. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method that breaks down the meaning of duur, from the perspective of pragmatic semiotics. The results show that sugar at that time was an invalueable commodity, more than a value of a human being. Shoes, names, hats and love in the film Hoe Duur Was De Suiker are symbols of luxury wich are not for everyone, especially slaves."

This research uses qualitative method. This research to find out the types of politeness used and to find out the most dominant types of politeness found in conversation between tourist and guide. "Tesis ini berfokus pada strategi bertutur dalam forum daring. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah tuturan tertulis yang diambil dari diskusi yang terjadi di utas “Konsultasi: Problematika dengan Pacar”, dalam forum daring Female Daily, pada bulan Oktober 2014. Penelitian kualitatif dengan ancangan pragmatik ini bertujuan untuk menunjukkan bagaimana penanya dan penanggap dalam diskusi menggunakan strategi kesantunan. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa penanya dan penanggap menggunakan empat strategi kesantunan yang dirumuskan oleh Brown dan Levinson (1987, 1996), yaitu bertutur terus terang tanpa basa-basi, bertutur terus terang dengan basa-basi kesantunan positif, bertutur terus terang dengan basa-basi kesantunan positif, dan bertutur secara samar. Secara umum, penanya lebih banyak menggunakan strategi bertutur terus terang dengan basa-basi kesantunan positif dan penanggap menggunakan dua strategi bertutur, yaitu terus terang dengan basa-basi kesantunan positif dan bertutur terus terang dengan basa-basi kesantunan negatif. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa penanya cenderung mengakrabkan diri dengan penanggap dan penanggap juga berupaya untuk dapat melindungi muka penanya dari keterancaman dengan mengakrabkan diri dengan penanya dan membebaskan penanya dari pembebanan yang mungkin ditimbulkan dari pendapat atau saran yang diberikan oleh penanggap.

This thesis focuses on politeness strategies in an online forum. The data in this study is a written speech taken from the discussions in the thread "Consultation: Problems with Boyfriend", in the online forum Female Daily, in October 2014. The qualitative research under pragmatics approach examined how the enquirers and respondents in the discussion using politeness strategies. The results show that the enquirers and respondents utilized four politeness strategies formulated by Brown and Levinson (1987, 1996), namely on record, positive politeness, negative politeness, and off record. The results show that the enquirers used a mainly positive politeness strategy and the respondents used both positive politeness and negative politeness strategies in an attempt to protect the face of the enquirers from being threatened. By highlighting friendliness with the questioner and at the same time also avoiding giving offense by showing deference, freed the questioner from the burden that may have arisen from the opinion or suggestion given by the respondent."
