"Peran perpustakaan akademik dalam layanan pendukung penelitian (Research Support Services) telah menjadi isu global. Namun, peran tersebut belum dilakukan dengan baik oleh perpustakaan akademik di Indonesia; adopsinya masih rendah dibandingkan negara lain. Sistem informasi dapat mengatasi permasalahan tersebut melalui pengembangan model bisnis; menghasilkan perubahan proses bisnis yang diimplementasikan dalam prototipe perpustakaan digital layanan pendukung penelitian. Strategi implementasi yang tepat juga dibutuhkan untuk kesuksesan adopsi perubahan proses bisnis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat model bisnis perpustakaan digital layanan pendukung penelitian dan implementasinya berupa sebuah prototipe. Tujuan lainnya adalah mengembangkan strategi implementasi untuk perubahan proses bisnis yang diusulkan.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode campuran (mixed-methods). Studi kualitatif melalui focus group disscussion (FGD) digunakan dalam membangun model bisnis yang diadopsi dari Business Model Canvas. Pengembangan prototipe menggunakan pendekatan object oriented dengan metode Rapid Application Development. Analisis usability secara kuantitatif dengan kuesioner system usability scale (SUS) digunakan untuk pengujian prototipe. Pengembangan strategi implementasi diperoleh dari wawancara dengan pakar dengan metode grounded theory method (GTM). Analisis data kualitatif menggunakan analisis konten dan analisis tematik.
Penelitian menghasilkan model bisnis dengan sembilan faktor kunci yang unik sesuai karakteristik perpustakaan akademik di Indonesia. Model bisnis tersebut telah dilakukan pemodelan proses bisnisnya menggunakan Unified Modelling Language (UML) dan diimplementasikan dalam prototipe; dimana hal ini belum dilakukan pada penelitian sebelumnya. Strategi implementasi juga telah dirancang untuk kesuksesan adopsi perubahan proses bisnis yang diusulkan. Dibandingkan dengan penelitian terdahulu, pada penelitian ini muncul isu terkait kesadaran staf dan kerjasama antar unit. Hal ini berkaitan dengan karakteristik organisasi nonprofit perpustakaan akademik; dimana pada penelitian sebelumnya strategi dirancang berdasarkan studi kasus organisasi profit. Secara praktikal, hasil penelitian ini dapat digunakan untuk mengatasi keterbatasan pengembangan teknologi dan meningkatkan adopsi perubahan proses bisnis di perpustakaan akademik menuju layanan pendukung penelitian. Beberapa proses bisnis yang belum diimplementasikan karena berbagai keterbatasan penelitian berpeluang sebagai penelitian lanjutan untuk memperkuat penelitian ini.

The role of academic libraries in Research Support Services has become a global issue. However, this role has not been carried out well by academic libraries in Indonesia; the adoption is low compared to other countries. Information systems can overcome these problems through the development of business models; produce business process changes that are implemented in a prototype digital library of research support services. The appropriate implementation strategy is also needed for the successful adoption of business process reengineering. This study aims to create a digital library business model for research support services and its implementation in the form of a prototype. Another objective is to develop an implementation strategy for the adoption of the proposed business process.
This study uses a mixed method. Qualitative studies through focus group discussions (FGD) are used to build a business model adapted from the Business Model Canvas. The prototype development uses an object-oriented approach with the Rapid Application Development method. Quantitative usability analysis using a system usability scale (SUS) questionnaire was used for prototype testing. The development of the implementation strategy was obtained from interviews with experts using the grounded theory method (GTM). Qualitative data analysis used content analysis and thematic analysis.
The research resulted in a business model with nine unique key factors according to the characteristics of academic libraries in Indonesia. The business model has been modeling its business processes using the Unified Modeling Language (UML) and implemented in a prototype; which has not been done in previous studies. The implementation strategy has also been designed for the successful adoption of the business process reengineering. Compared to previous research, this study raises issues related to staff awareness and collaboration between units. This relates to the characteristics of the non-profit organization of academic libraries; where in the previous study the strategy was designed based on a case study of profit organizations. Practically, the results of this research can be used to overcome the limitations of technology development and increase the adoption of business process reengineering in academic libraries towards research support services. Several business processes that have not been implemented due to various research limitations have the opportunity as further research to strengthen this research.

Penelitian survei merupakan suatu penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan pertanyaan terstruktur/sistematis yang sama kepada banyak orang, untuk kemudian seluruh jawaban yang diperoleh peneliti dicatat, diolah, dan dianalisis. Pertanyaan terstruktur/sistematis tersebut dikenal dengan istilah kuisoner. Kuesioner disebarkan pads mahasiswa MM FEUI sebagai subyek penelitian yang telah menggunakan MM_-Digilib sebagai obyek penelitian. Selain untuk mengetahui ketergunaan layanan antarmuka portal MM-Digilib, penelitian ini juga diharapkan dapat memberi ide bagi perpustakaan MM FEUI untuk perbaikan MM-Digilib ke depannya. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa hampir seluruh pengguna menyukai MM_-Digilib karena fungsi yang dimiliki. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa tampilan antarmuka portal MM-Digilib masih perlu diperbaiki agar kelak bukan hanya fungsi yang dicari pengguna tetapi juga kehandalan tampilan antarmuka menjembatani pengguna dengan koleksi."

"The research objective is to know the rank of state universities in Indonesia and its library by using Webometrics Rankings of world universities and web impact factor parameter, then analyze correlation between the rank of state universities in Indonesia and its library rank from both of parameters and also analyze correlation between WRWU rank with WIF rank at the state university libraries in Indonesia. This research using quantitative approach by means of webometrics analysis technical with using WRWU and WIF parameter. Research of the population is all of universities in Indonesia with sample 49 domain sites of university and its library. Data was obtained through search engine on May 19th 2011. The result shows that the highest rank based on WRWU parameter for the state university is The University of Gadjah Mada and for the library is Diponegoro University Library. The highest rank based of WIF parameter is State University of Surabaya while for library is the Bengkulu University. The results of correlation analysis shows that there is strong relation between the rank of State Universities in Indonesia with its library rank based of WRWU parameter, there is very low relation between the rank of state universities in Indonesia with the rank its library based of WIF parameter and also there is significant relationship between the rank of WRWU parameter with WIF parameter of State Universities Libraries in Indonesia."

Skripsi ini membahas tentang persepsi pustakawan mengenai pergeseran peran
pustakawan di abad elektronik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi
pustakawan Universitas Katolik Indonesia (Unika) Atma Jaya Jakarta dan
mengetahui apa saja strategi yang dimiliki pustakawan Unika Atma Jaya dalam
menghadapi pergeseran perannya di abad elektronik. Penelitian ini adalah
penelitian kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan
cara memeriksa dokumen terkait, wawancara, dan observasi. Hasil penelitian ini
juga dikaitkan dengan kompetensi pustakawan abad 21 oleh American Library
Association.

shifting role in electronic era. This research aims to determine perception of
Unika Atma Jaya Jakarta?s librarian about their shifting role and to get overview
about their strategy so they can survive in electronic era. This study was a
qualitative research with case study method. The research data obtained by
examining relevant documents, interviews, and observation. The results of this
study was also associated with the 21th century competencies of librarian by
American Library Association."

"Tesis ini membahas tentang kapasitas perpustakaan digital pada perpustakaan di lingkungan Universitas Indonesia (UI). Dijelaskan bagaimana kondisinya dan peran kondisi serupa ini dalam mengembangkan kerjasama dan jaringan perpustakaan pada aras meso (UI) maupun pada aras makro (nasional). Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik wawancara mendalam dan diskusi kelompok fokus. Informan adalah kepala perpustakaan; administrator jaringan, dan koordinator layanan pemakai Perpustakaan Universitas. Analisis dituntun Adaptive Structuration Theory, dilakukan di sepanjang proses mengolah data yang terdiri dari tahap: pengodean berbuka, pengodean berporos dan pengodean berpilih. Hasilnya ditemukan kategori inti yang terdiri dari komponen: SDM, koleksi digital, teknologi jaringan, teknologi perangkat lunak aplikasi (LONTAR), dan kebijakan. Kondisi kapasitas ini punya peran potensial dalam mengembangkan kerjasama dan jaringan perpustakaan di UI. Saran diberikan bagi pustakawan dan perpustakaan di lingkungan UI, serta pemangku kepentingan layanan perpustakaan digital pada berbagai aras.
A Study of digital libraries (DL) capacity is conducted to explain: DL capacity condition at University of Indonesia (UI) libraries and its role in developing library cooperation and library network at meso level (UI) and macro level. Depth interviews and Focus Group Discussion is conducted to accumulate data. Informants are a library chairman, a network administrator, and library services coordinator at the main library. Data are analyzed throughout every step of data processing, start from open coding to axial coding and selective coding. Data analyzed is guided by Adaptive Structuration Theory (AST). Human resources, digital collection, technology, and policies are categories found. Relation among these categories is found as well. Capacity condition has a role in developing cooperation and network among academic libraries at meso level, but it is not at macro level. Suggestions are given to librarians and libraries management in UI, and digital libraries stakeholders at every level."

"Penelitian ini merupakan analisis terhadap representasi perpustakaan akademik dalam novel dengan genre fiksi fantasi-sejarah berjudul Babel karya R.F. Kuang. Dalam novel ini banyak peristiwa yang terjadi di perpustakaan di Universitas Oxford. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana penggambaran konsep, fungsi dan peranan perpustakaan akademik sebagai pusat kegiatan keilmuan dan aktivitas nonakademik mahasiswa dalam novel Babel. Penelitian menggunakan metode analisis isi kualitatif milik Mariette Bengtsson terhadap teks novel. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara membaca secara ekstensif, dan menggarisbawahi kalimat atau paragraf yang sesuai dengan fokus penelitian. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa perpustakaan dalam novel Babel merupakan perpustakaan riset milik fakultas yang termasuk ke dalam kategori perpustakaan akademik. Perpustakaan memiliki fungsi dan peranan dalam mendukung kegiatan akademik mahasiswa melalui pemanfaatan ruang perpustakaan yang digambarkan sebagai learning commons, co-working space, dan makerspace, sehingga menjadi pusat kegiatan keilmuan dan praktik para akademisi. Namun ditemukan bahwa perpustakaan tidak bersikap netral dalam memberikan pelayanan dan cenderung membatasi cakupan penelitian mahasiswa dan pembatasan akses informasi dari publik. Selain itu, pemanfaatan ruang perpustakaan juga digunakan untuk kegiatan di luar lingkup akademis, seperti sebagai tempat pusat pengembangan ilmu dan pemanfaatan kekuatan ajaib; tempat pergerakan sosial berlangsung, dan pusat pergerakan aktivisme mahasiswa. Representasi perpustakaan dalam novel ini dipengaruhi oleh latar belakang sejarah dan pendidikan serta imajinasi penulis dalam menyampaikan kritik terhadap dunia pendidikan dan lembaga informasi di lingkungan akademik. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa berdasarkan perspektif penulis, perpustakaan direpresentasikan sebagai pusat kegiatan keilmuan dan akademik mahasiswa, serta sebagai tempat yang terlibat secara langsung dalam kehidupan politik mahasiswa dan menjadi pusat pergerakan mahasiswa.

This study analyzes the representation of academic libraries in the historical-fantasy fiction novel ‘Babel’ by R.F. Kuang, where most of the stories are set in the libraries of Oxford University. It aims to understand how the concepts, functions, and roles of the academic library as centres of scholarly activities and student activities are portrayed in the novel. The research method used   a qualitative content analysis by Mariette Bengtsson. Data was collected through extensive reading and underlining sentences or paragraphs that match the research focus. The results found that the libraries in the novel are the faculties research library which counted in an academic libraries category. The library provided support for student academic activities by being portrayed as a learning commons, co-working space, and makerspace; hence they became the center of scholarly activities for scholars. However, the libraries are portrayed as being not neutral in providing services and tend to limit the scope of student research and public access to information. Otherwise, the library as spaces also used for non-academic activities, such as a source of production and knowledge development center of magical powers; where social movements take place, and the center of student activism movements. The study found that the representation of the library in this novel was influenced by historical and educational background and the author's imagination to deliver critiques towards the academic world and its information institutions. Therefore, based on the author’s perspective, the library is portrayed as a center for scholarly activities and a place directly involved in student political life as it becomes the center of student movements."
