"Pentingnya partisipasi masyarakat dalam pelaksanaan pemilihan presiden (pilpres) 2014 merupakan salah satu cara untuk menciptakan kebijakan yang pro-rakyat. Hal tersebut dapat terjadi karena calon presiden dan calon wakil presiden akan berlomba-lomba dalam membuat rancangan kebijakan publik yang dimasukkan kedalam visi mereka, sehingga masyarakat dapat memilih mana yang lebih peduli terhadap mereka dan lebih mengutamakan kepentingan golongannya. Kebijakan publik merupakan produk politik, sehingga unsur-unsur politik mewarnai kebijakan yang dihasilkan. Kebijakan publik yang pro-rakyat melibatkan publik dalam setiap tahap penyusunan, realistik, jelas tolak ukur keberhasilan, jelas dasar hukum, dan antar kebijakan tidak terjadi tumpang tindih atau bertentangan. Pada dasarnya kebijakan publik di Indonesia tidak selalu berorientasi pada kepentingan publik. Dengan adanya pemilihan presiden tahun 2014 ini, Indonesia diharapkan memiliki pemimpin yang dapat membentuk dan menjalankan kebijakan yang pro-publik (pro-rakyat) sehingga masalah-masalah di negeri ini dapat teratasi.

The importance of community participation in the 2014 presidential election is one way to create pro-people policies. This can happen because presidential candidates and vice presidential candidates will compete to create public policy plans that are included in their vision, so that people can choose which one cares more about them and prioritizes the interests of their group. Public policy is a political product, so political elements color the resulting policies. Pro-people public policies involve the public at every stage of preparation, are realistic, have clear benchmarks for success, have a clear legal basis, and there is no overlap or conflict between policies. Basically, public policy in Indonesia is not always oriented towards the public interest. With the 2014 presidential election, Indonesia is expected to have a leader who can form and implement pro-public (pro-people) policies so that the problems in this country can be resolved."

"Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui hubungan konformitas dan pengetahuan politik terhadap dukungan pemilih pada kebijakan populis kandidat dalam pemilu. Sebanyak 133 partisipan dalam penelitian ini membaca skenario tentang Pemilu Presiden dengan dua pasangan calon yang mengusung kebijakan populis vs nonpopulis serta didukung oleh organisasi kelompok agama mayoritas. Alat ukur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah alat ukur pengetahuan politik yang dirancang sendiri oleh peneliti dan alat ukur the Social Conformity-Autonomy Beliefs (SCA Beliefs) yang dikembangkan oleh Feldman (2003). Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik multiple regression dengan mengontrol variabel demografi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konformitas dan interaksi antara konformitas dengan pengetahuan politik memprediksi pilihan pada kandidat dengan kebijakan populis. Namun, berlawanan dengan hipotesis, pengetahuan politik justru memprediksi dukungan pada kebijakan populis. Temuan ini mengkonfirmasi temuan sebelumnya bahwa dukungan pada kebijakan populis lebih kuat berhubungan dengan norma berupa pilihan kebanyakan orang.

The aim of this study was to examine the influence of conformity and political knowledge on voters’ policy preference. Participants in this research were college students (N=133). Participants in this study read a scenario about an election. One candidate proposed populist policy and supported by majority group in Indonesia. The other candidate proposed non-populist policy. Participants were assessed using political knowledge measurements which made by the researcher of this research and the Social Conformity-Autonomy Beliefs (SCA Beliefs) by Feldman. Researcher used multiple regression as the statistical technique in order to test the hypothesis. The result of this study showed both conformity and political knowledge have significant relationship with voters’ policy preference. Contradict to the previous studies, political knowledge predict voters’ support towards populist policy. This finding confirm previous research finding, populist policy get more support due to its’connection to people’s value.

"Skripsi ini dimaksudkan untuk menjawab pertanyaan penelitian mengenai proses rekonstruksi citra Donald J. Trump dan empat usulan kebijakannya sebagai calon presiden Amerika Serikat oleh Fox and Friends dalam pemilihan presiden 2016. Sedangkan perspektif teoritis yang digunakan sebagai dasar analisis mengacu pada framing theory yang digunakan. diprakarsai oleh Robert Entman. Dalam perspektif yang diambil, dapat dibuktikan bahwa proses framing menunjukkan positioning Donald J. Trump pada sebuah wacana politik dalam peliputan kebijakan. Proses tersebut akan menjelaskan struktur pembentukan citra Donald J. Trump selama masa kampanye. Selanjutnya, penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan studi literatur dan analisis dokumen pada sampel liputan acara. Dengan demikian, kesimpulan yang dapat diambil dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa peristiwa tersebut telah direkonstruksi dalam menggambarkan citra Donald J. Trump dan kebijakannya.

This thesis is intended to answer research questions regarding the process of reconstructing the image of Donald J. Trump and his four policy proposals as a candidate for president of the United States by Fox and Friends in the 2016 presidential election. Meanwhile, the theoretical perspective used as the basis for the analysis refers to the framing theory used. initiated by Robert Entman. In the perspective taken, it can be proven that the framing process shows Donald J. Trump's positioning on a political discourse in policy coverage. This process will explain the structure of the image formation of Donald J. Trump during the campaign period. Furthermore, this study uses a qualitative method with literature studies and document analysis on the sample coverage of the event. Thus, the conclusion that can be drawn from this research is that the event has been reconstructed in describing the image of Donald J. Trump and his policies."
