"PPDB merupakan tonggak awal proses pendidikan dengan menyeleksi peserta didik baru pada sekolah. SMPN kota Depok dipilih dalam penelitian ini karena adanya pengelompokan kontras dalam penerimaan siswa baru dalam jalur prestasi akademik pada SMPN unggul dan non unggul di tengah keterbatasan jumlah dan persebaran SMP negeri kota ini. Sehingga peran geografi dalam penelitian ini difokuskan pada pendekatan keruangan dalam ranah pendidikan yang disajikan dalam analisis spasial dan analisis deskriptif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pemetaan  yang dikhususkan untuk preferensi spasial siswa dalam memilih sekolah dan buffer untuk menganalisis zona pelayanan. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami preferensi spasial siswa dalam memilih sekolah melalui jalur prestasi akademik serta menganalisis segmentasi yang terjadi dalam PPDB berdasarkan pola pelayanan SMPN kota Depok. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa preferensi spasial siswa dalam memilih SMPN Depok melalui jalur prestasi akademik diperoleh perbedaan yang kontras antara SMPN unggul dan non unggul. Bahwasannya preferensi siswa dalam memilih SMPN unggul memiliki keistimewaan tersendiri, sementara SMPN non unggul sebaliknya. Dalam hal ini, pola pelayanan dari jalur prestasi akademik mayoritas berada di luar zona pelayanan sekolah manapun. Sehingga dari sudut pandang spasial menunjukkan adanya segmentasi PPDB antara pusat dan pinggir kota dalam penerimaan siswa baru berdasarkan jenis SMPN.

PPDB is an early milestone in the educational process by selecting new students at school. SMPN Depok city was chosen in this study because of the contrast in the acceptance of new students in the academic achievement track at superior and non-excellent SMPNs amidst the limited number and distribution of public junior high schools in this city. So that the role of geography in this study is focused on a spatial approach in the realm of education which is presented in spatial analysis and descriptive analysis. This study uses the flow mapping method which is specifically for students' spatial preferences in choosing schools and buffers to analyze service zones. Therefore, this study aims to understand students' spatial preferences in choosing schools through the academic achievement path and to analyze the segmentation that occurs in PPDB based on service patterns at SMPN Depok city. The results of this study indicate that the students' spatial preferences in choosing SMPN Depok through the academic achievement path obtained contrasting differences between superior and non-excellent SMPNs. That is, student preferences in choosing superior SMPN have their own privileges, while non-superior SMPN is the opposite. In this case, the pattern of service from the majority of academic achievement pathways is outside the service zone of any school. So that from a spatial perspective it shows that there is PPDB segmentation between the center and the outskirts of the city in admitting new students based on the type of SMPN."
