Penelitian ini membahas tentang preservasi arsip foto yang dilakukan oleh Kantor Arsip Universitas Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi proses kegiatan preservasi arsip foto yang dilakukan Kantor Arsip Universitas Indonesia. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Proses pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan studi pustaka. Dari penelitian ini diketahui bahwa Kantor Arsip Universitas Indonesia melakukan kegiatan preservasi arsip foto yang mencakup kegiatan penanganan, perawatan dan penyimpanan. Penanganan meliputi kegiatan identifikasi kerusakan fisik arsip, melepas arsip foto dari album, mengelompokkan foto berdasarkan kronologis atau subjek peristiwa, digitalisasi arsip foto ke dalam SEKAR UI, inventarisasi arsip foto ke dalam SEKAR UI, memasukkan fisik arsip ke dalam amplop kertas, memasukkan amplop yang berisi arsip foto ke dalam boks arsip yang sudah diberi judul dan klasifikasi. Kegiatan perawatan meliputi pembersihan fisik arsip secara berkelanjutan. Adapun penyimpanan dilakukan pada suhu 16°C dan kelembaban 35%, selain menyimpan dengan menggunakan rak berbahan besi. Kantor Arsip UI juga memasang APAR (Alat Pemadam Api Ringan) untuk mitigasi kebakaran, dan CCTV sebagai bentuk kontrol keamanan terhadap tindakan pencurian atau vandalisme terhadap arsip foto.

This study discusses the preservation of photographic archives conducted by Universitas Indonesia Archive Office. The purpose of this study is to identify the process of photographic archives preservation activities undertaken by the Universitas Indonesia Archive Office. This research is a qualitative research. The process of collecting data is conducted through observation, interviews, and literature study. From this research, it is revealed that Universitas Indonesia Archive Office undertakes the process of photgraphic archive preservation activities by including handling activities, maintenance and storage activities. Handling includes identifying physical damage of the photographic archive, removing the photographic archive from the album, grouping them according to chronological or subject matter, inventorying the photographic file into SEKAR UI, inserting the physical file into a paper envelope, and then inserting the envelope into the file box which has already been given a title and classification. Maintenance activities include continuous physical cleaning of archives. The storage is carried out at a temperature of 16 ° C and a humidity of 35%. Other forms of storage is using iron based shelves. The Universitas Indonesia Archive Office also installed an APAR (Light Fire Extinguisher) for fire mitigation, and CCTV as a form of security control against theft or vandalism of photographic archives.

"Preservasi terhadap arsip foto dilakukan untuk menjaga kondisi fisik arsip foto tersebut agar nilai informasi yang terkandung dalam arsip foto tersebut dapat diakses. Berdasarkan nilai informasi dan karakteristik fisik dari arsip foto, dibutuhkan upaya yang berbeda dari arsip konvensional untuk menjaga kondisi fisik dan informasi yang terdapat di dalamnya. Penelitian ini membahas mengenai upaya preservasi terhadap arsip foto oleh Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kota Padang Panjang. Berdasarkan teori piramida preservasi menurut Teygeler (2001) terdiri dari preventive conservation, passive conservation, active conservation, dan restoration oleh Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kota Padang Panjang dalam melakukan kegiatan preservasi arsip foto telah melakukan komponen upaya preservasi yang termasuk ke dalam piramida preservasi, namun masih terdapat beberapa komponen yang perlu dievaluasi untuk kegiatan preservasi pada lembaga tersebut.

"Penelitian ini mengkaji pemanfaatan koleksi layanan ekstensi oleh warga binaan pemasyarakatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pelayanan ekstensi di lembaga pemasyarakatan, mengetahui pengaruh ketentuan koleksi layanan ekstensi terhadap pemanfaatan, dan mengidentifikasi kendala yang dihadapi pustakawan dalam memberikan layanan ekstensi berdasarkan faktor pemanfaatannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Pegumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara, observasi, dan analisis dokumen. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan layanan ekstensi sudah dilakukan dengan baik melalui ketentuan koleksi yang diberikan, tetapi pemanfaatannya masih terdapat kendala dari faktor internal dan eksternal warga binaan pemasyarakatan. Hal yang menjadi kendala pemanfaatan yaitu berasal dari kebutuhan akan sumber edukatif kurang terpenuhi, minat terhalang oleh kurangnya kebiasaan membaca serta kegiatan lain, dan kelengkapan koleksi yang kurang beragam. Sementara faktor kebutuhan akan sumber rekreasi, motif memperbaiki diri, dan keterampilan pustakawan dalam mengatasi kendala, dapat mendorong pemanfaatan koleksi lebih maksimal.

This study examines the use of collections of extension services by correctional inmates. This study aims to identify extension services in prisons, determine the effect of the provision of extension service collections on utilization, and identify obstacles faced by librarians in providing extension services based on utilization factors. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data collection was done by interview, observation, and document analysis. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of extension services has been carried out well through the provisions of the collection provided. However, there are still obstacles in its utilization from internal and external factors of the inmates. Things that become obstacles to utilization are derived from the need for educational resources that is not fulfilled, interest is hindered by a lack of reading habits and other activities, and the completeness of the collection is less diverse. Meanwhile, the need for recreational resources, the motive for self-improvement, and the librarian's skills in overcoming obstacles can encourage maximum utilization of the collection."
