"This research analyses the contemporary narratives of leftist Islam movements being developed as a counter-narrative to dominant Islamic discourse in Indonesia and Turkey. These leftist Islam movements were introduced under different circumstances in the two countries. In Indonesia, leftist Islam was initially promoted by Islamic scholars who were interacting with Marxist references. This was shown in the cases of Haji Misbach, who was one of Indonesia’s – and the world’s – first leftist Muslim figures. In the case of Turkey, some leftist Islamic movements were inspired by the modern Turkish Marxist movement, which emerged in the middle of the twentieth century and was eventually combined with Islamic elements. This research argues that as both Indonesian and Turkish governments are consolidating their modes of authoritarian neoliberal governance, combined with increasing religiosity, the narratives of leftist Islam are re-emerging as a way to provide socio-political criticisms and to formulate alternative ideas on the role of Islam in improving the livelihood of Muslims in Indonesia and Turkey. This research engages with several cases of leftist Islamic movements in Indonesia and Turkey. In Indonesia, this research takes the examples of FNKSDA (Nahdliyyin Front for Natural Resource Sovereignty) and its media outlet Islam Bergerak (Islam on the Move) which have had an important role in organising leftist Islamic movement in Indonesia during the 2010s. In the case of Turkey, we examine the role of Antikapitalist Müslümanlar (Anti-Capitalist Muslims), also known as Kapitalizmle Mücadele Derneği (Association for Fight against Capitalism). This research identifies the socio-political origins, main ideas, goals, and strategies of the contemporary leftist Islam movements in Indonesia and Turkey."

"Research in communication network has the limit due to its problem of the supply frequency and equipment. To overcome this problem, open source can be the solution to build a helpful test bed for the research or academic purpose. Open source network can be developed using Software Defined Network (SDN) which has been continuosly developed due enormous number of installed base equipment and protocols that are inflexible, predefined, and fixed since SDN offers a flexible, dynamic, and programmable functionality of network systems. By using OpenFlow as its protocol, we can program the network flow in a flow table on different switches and routers. This research approches an OpenFlow-based Wi-Fi environment using OpenFlow-based Access Point (OFAP) and OpenFlow controller. Each OFAP is deployed at two different rooms and performed several experiments to evaluate handoff delay. The result of this experiment show that OpenFlow-based network show more stable process than traditional network because of installed flows given to each packets however the discovered value needs to be examined further due to better mechanism towards installed flows. The handoff delay between OFAPs is 24% faster than handoff delay between traditional AP with average of 79.9 miliseconds. By use of this system, we believe it could deliver high performance network and increase reliability for the real-time traffic over WLAN, by reducing handoff delay compared to classical Wi-Fi environment."

This thesis explores the dynamics of illness narratives among young adults with thalassemia major in Indonesia. The study focuses on how individuals with thalassemia major construct stories about their journeys and experiences living with this chronic illness. The approach employed combines the illness narrative framework of Arthur Kleinman and the narrative typology of Arthur Frank, which classifies narratives into restitution, chaos, and quest. This research was conducted through in-depth interviews and fieldwork with three primary informants who have thalassemia major and one caregiver. The findings reveal that the illness narratives of individuals with thalassemia major involve complex dynamics, encompassing hopes for recovery (restitution), chaos arising from physical and social challenges, and the acceptance of their condition, which manifests in efforts to build resilience (quest). These narrative dynamics not only reflect internal individual processes but are also shaped by interactions with family, healthcare providers, peer communities of individuals with thalassemia, and society at large. In this context, the narratives illustrate how physical, emotional, and social experiences are intertwined. This study contributes to the field of medical anthropology by emphasizing the importance of understanding the subjective experiences of individuals with chronic illnesses while offering practical insights into the need for better medical and social support for patients with thalassemia major in Indonesia."
