"The 722 cantos and 247,766 lines of poetry in the Sĕrat Cĕnthini, composed in Surakarta by Ki Ng. Ronggasutrasna, R.Ng. Yasadipura II, and Ki Ng. Sastradipura under the direction of the Crown Prince of Surakarta (later Pakubuwana V, r.1820-1823) in 1815 during the British occupation of Java (1811- 1816), are arguably the greatest expression of literary art ever written in Javanese. The earliest version of the Sĕrat Cĕnthini comes from Cirebon at the beginning of the seventeenth century. When the poem reached Surakarta in the late eighteenth to early nineteenth century, court poets rewrote it, greatly expanding the number of episodes and characters, as well as the kinds of information and literary style to be found in the text. My interest in the excerpt I have translated from Canto 364 focuses on two aspects of this process of literary revision: characterization and the representation of everyday life."

"Skripsi ini membahas bagaimana tokoh superhero dan supervillain pada film Iron Man 3 (2013) memperlihatkan sebuah tindakan dominasi relasi kuasa. Dominasi dan relasi kuasa ini, yang terjadi melalui konflik antar tokoh, dilihat sebagai suatu pembentukan stratifikasi sosial antara manusia super dan manusia normal/ masyarakat. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan membandingkan definisi dan ideologi pada superhero dan supervillain, yang tertanam pada tokoh superhero, Iron Man dan Iron Patriot, dan tokoh supervillain, Mandarin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat konflik yang menyebabkan dominasi dan relasi kuasa dalam pembentukan susunan kelas dalam masyarakat. Dengan mengkaji definisi dan ideologi pada tokoh-tokoh tersebut, penelitian ini diharapkan memberikan pandangan lebih luas mengenai tokoh manusia super dan membantu pembaca memahami nilai yang disampaikan dari keberadaan tokoh superhero. Kesimpulan yang diambil penulis adalah pengambaran tokoh superhero dan supervillain pada film Iron Man 3 (2013) sebagai pemilik kekuasan tertinggi memiliki fungsi sebagai pembatas yang mengatur nilai-nilai dalam masyarakat.

This undergraduate thesis discusses how superhero and supervillain characters in the film Iron Man 3 (2013) shows an act of domination and power relation between characters. Domination and power relation, that occur through the conflict between characters, are seen as an establishment of social stratification among superhuman and normal human / society. This study is conducted by comparing the definition and ideology on the superhero and supervillain in superhero characters, Iron Man and the Iron Patriot, and supervillain character, Mandarin. This study aims to look at the conflicts that led to the dominance and power relations in the establishment of class structures in the society. By reviewing the definition and ideology on these characters, this study is expected to give a broader view of superhuman characters and help the reader to understand the value delivered from superhero character. As a conclusion, the potrayals of the superhero and supervillain characters in the film Iron Man 3 (2013) as the highest power owner have a function to limit and control the values in the society."

"ABSTRAKSkripsi ini menjelaskan penggunaan metafora dalam percakapan pada film Juno. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menganalisis metafora untuk menjawab tiga rumusan masalah, yaitu: (1) ciri-ciri yang dimanifestasikan metafora; (2) pengaruh konteks budaya pada penggunaan metafora; dan (3) implikatur penggunaan metafora terhadap makna tuturan. Data diperoleh dari film Juno berupa tuturan yang mengandung metafora. Berdasarkan data, metafora dianalisis menggunakan teori relevansi Sperber dan Wilson yang berfokus kepada tingkat relavansi suatu tuturan. Metafora dan konteks digabung sehingga menghasilkan asumsi kontekstual. Dari asumsi kontekstual, ditarik ciri-ciri relevan metafora yang dimanifestasikan ke dalam suatu konsep, pengaruh konteks budaya terhadap relevansi metafora, dan pengaruh penggunaan metafora terhadap makna tuturan. Penelitian ini diharap memberikan pengetahuan lebih dalam kepada pembaca untuk memahami dan menginterpretasi metafora.

ABSTRACTThis undergraduate thesis decribes the usage of metaphors in the conversation in Juno movie. This research was done by analyzing the metaphors to answer the three problems, which were: (1) the encoded characteristics of the metaphors; (2) the influence of cultural context to the use of metaphors; and (3) the implicature of the usage of metaphors on the speech meaning. Data were obtained from Juno movie in the form of speech containing metaphors. Based on the data, metaphors were analyzed by using Sperber and Wilson relevance theory, focusing on relevance level of speech. Metaphors and the contexts were combined in order to get the contextual asumptions. From contextual asumptions, the relevant encoded characteristics of metaphors, the influence of cultural context, and the implicature of the usage of metaphors on the speech, were identified. This observation hopefully could give extended knowledge of metaphors comprehending and interpretations for the readers."

"ABSTRAKArtikel ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan penggambaran cinta sebagai kebutuhan manusia untuk mengatasi permasalahan eksistensinya yaitu kesepian. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif yang berlandaskan teori sastra dari pendekatan strukturalisme. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa keterpisahan merupakan masalah eksistensi manusia: rasa kesepian yang merupakan konsekuensi dari dirinya sebagai manusia yang memiliki kesadaran akan dirinya dan manusia lain yang terpisah darinya. Maka, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa puisi Pour Toi Mon Amour karya Jacques Pr vert menggambarkan cinta sebagai jawaban atas permasalahan tersebut.

ABSTRACTThis article aims to describe the depiction of love as the human needs to overcome their existensial problem of loneliness. The method used in this study is a qualitative method that is based on the literary theory of structuralism approach. The result indicates that separation is a problem of human existence loneliness is a consequense of himself as a human who has a consciousness of himself and another human apart from him. Thus, the writer concludes that the poem Pour Toi Mon Amour by Jacques Pr vert depicted love as the answer to such problem."
