"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melatih kemampuan mengenakan kemeja berkancing pada anak yang mengalami hambatan perkembangan dengan menggunakan terapi behavior modification. Penelitian ini bersifat studi kasus.
Metode behavior modification yang digunakan adalah forward chaining. Untuk membantu anak selama pelatihan, akan diberikan prompt, yaitu verbal, gestural, modeling, dan fisik, serta extra-stimulus prompt. Selain itu juga diberikan reinforcement (social, token dan backup reinforcement, serta manipulative) untuk menguatkan perilaku yang dilatihkan.
Baseline dilakukan selama 5 sesi untuk mengetahui sejauhmana anak dapat mengenakan kemeja. Hasil baseline menunjukkan bahwa secara konsisten anak belum dapat mengenakan kemeja berkancing tanpa bantuan. Pada saat baseline, anak hanya dapat memegang kemeja berkancing yang telah terbuka berhadapan dengannya, memasukkan lengan kanan ke lubang lengan kanan kemeja, dan menarik kerah kemeja kanan ke arah bahu. Pelatihan dilakukan selama 12 hari yang terdiri dari 21 sesi. Setelah pelatihan dilakukan, anak sudah dapat mengenakan kemeja dengan memasukkan tangan ke dalam lubang lengan pada kemeja, namun belum dapat memasukkan kancing ke lubang kancing.
Berdasarkan hasil pelatihan, disimpulkan bahwa hingga akhir pelatihan anak belum dapat mengenakan kemeja berkancing sendiri. Hambatan yang dialami oleh anak adalah keterbatasan motorik halus sehingga kesulitan untuk memasukkan kancing ke dalam lubang kancing. Meskipun demikian anak tetap menunjukkan kemajuan, yaitu sudah dapat mengenakan kemeja dengan memasukkan tangan ke dalam lubang lengan pada kemeja tanpa bantuan.
This research is a study case about a 5 year old child with developmental disability. The aim of this research is to train the ability of wearing and buttoning a shirt using behavior modification therapy.
The behavior modification method used in this research is forward chaining. Prompts (verbal, gestural, modeling, physical, and extra-stimulus prompt) are given throughout the training process to help the child when needed. Reinforcements (social, manipulative, token and backfup reinforcement) are also given to strengthen the behaviors that are being trained.
Baseline was done in 5 sessions to see how far the child could wear and button a shirt. It could be seen that the child could not wear and button a shirt without help from others. He could only hold the shirt facing it, put his hand in the right sleeve, and pull it to his right shoulder. This training was done in 12 days, with a total of 21 sessions. After the training ended, the child could put both his hands in both sleeves, although he still could not button the shirt.
It could be concluded that until the end of the training session, the child could not wear and button his shirt on his own. He could not hold and put in the buttons because of fine motor skill deficits, which was an important aspect of buttoning. Nevertheless improvements could still be seen. By the end of the training program, he could wear the shirt by putting both his hands in the sleeve without help."
