"Nutritional cosmetics is an emerging area of intense research and marketing and encompasses the concept that orally consumed dietary products can support healthier and more beautiful skin. There are numerous dietary ingredients now being marketed for their potential skin health and beauty benefits and many of these are supported by growing scientific evidence. The purpose of this book is to compile the scientific evidence showing the potential benefits of some of the more extensively researched ingredients. As far as possible, information about the benefits of ingredients consumed orally for skin health is presented. The information contained in this book will help provide insights into an emerging research area and provide scientific background for the potential clinical effectiveness for some of the better researched nutricosmetic ingredients. "Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mengetahui pemaknaan perempuan novelis mengenai kecantikan dalam karyanya. Sumber data yang digunakan yaitu empat essai dalam novel Si Parasit Lajang terdiri atas esai berjudul Klinik THT (Telinga, Hidung dan Tetek); Barbie, Barbie Barbie; dan Keputihan sedangkan dalam novel Pengakuan Eks Parasit Lajang yaitu esai berjudul Nilai. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan tipe analisis semiotika. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa secara denotatif, konstruksi kecantikan dalam novel tidak berbeda dengan yang direpresentasikan dalam media massa (iklan, film, dll) yakni disimbolisasikan dengan Barbie, tubuh tinggi, putih, langsing meskipun teks tersebut ditulis perempuan novelis yang tergolong sastra wangi (feminis). Makna konotasi menunjukan bahwa kecantikan dinilai dari segi fisik seperti tinggi, putih, langsing yang merujuk pada kemampuan finansial karena mampu mereparasi tubuh. Makna konotasi juga menunjukkan bahwa perempuan novelis mengkonstruksikan kecantikan sejalan dengan nilai dominan, walaupun masih menawarkan nilai kecantikan alternatif (non-fisik). Mitos menunjukan makna bahwa kecantikan perempuan melalui berbagai macam bentuk reparasi tubuh dianggap berdosa dan konsumtif karena masyarakat masih mempercayai penilaian kecantikan sebagai kodrat. Kecantikan fisik diungkapkan novelis lebih banyak dimaknai sebagai cara utama dalam menilai kecantikan dibandingkan penilaian kecantikan non-fisik. Konstruksi novelis mengenai kecantikan dalam novel sejalan dengan pemaknaan novelis tentang kecantikan. Novelis menilai bahwa perempuan memiliki hak untuk dapat membentuk kecantikan sesuai dengan keinginannya melalui reparasi tubuh, baik operasi plastik atau pun bersolek.

This study aimed to find out the meaning of beauty according to female novelist in her work. The primary data are four essays in Si Parasit Lajang: Klinik THT (Telinga, Hidung dan Tetek); Barbie, Barbie Barbie; and Keputihan, meanwhile in novel Pengakuan Eks Parasit Lajang the essay titled Nilai. This study is using a qualitative approach with semiotic analysis. The results showed that the denotation meaning of beauty in the text as drafted in the mass media that show the symbol on the Barbie beauty, skin whitening products, body repair to beauty contests like Miss Universe and model. Connotations shows that in terms of physical beauty assessed as high, white, slim which refers to financial ability. Myth indicates meaning that the beauty of women through various forms of reparation and consumptive body is considered sinful because people still trust the judgment of beauty as God’s will, nature, even gift. Novelist considered that physical beauty is more considered to represent the beauty than nonphysical. Construction novelist of beauty in the novel is the same as her meanings. Novelist sees that a woman have the right to be able to develop beauty according to their desires; through body repair and good plastic surgery."

"Membaca wacana di media, saat ini jilbab dihadirkan sebagai tren berbusana semata. Untuk itu, penelitian ini hendak melihat bagaimana jilbab direpresentasikan pada media baru yang berideologi Islam, yaitu situs MyQuran. Dengan menggunakan paradigma konstruksionis dan teknik analisis framing, penelitian ini mencoba mengkaji teks yang terdapat pada situs MyQuran. Hasilnya, ternyata situs ini mencoba merekonstruksi kembali makna jilbab. Jilbab pada situs ini, dilihat sebagai bagian dari ajaran Islam yang harus ditaati dengan segala ketentuannya. Namun demikian, rekonstruksi tersebut tetap tidak terlepas dari berbagai faktor yang mempengaruhi isi media.

Nowadays, discourse in media stated that veil attended as trend dress. This research will see how veil represented at new media which have Islam as its ideology, that is MyQuran site. Contructionist paradigm and framing technique analysis, were used to analyze the text that found in the site. Its result describes that MyQuran site try to reconstruct the meaning of veil. This site sees a veil as a part of Islam?s teaching which must adhere with all its rules. However, the reconstruct not free of other factors that give influence to the media?s content."

"Media sering kali menggambarkan perempuan secara ideal dan sempurna. Hal ini berkontribusi pada body shaming pada perempuan yang dianggap tidak memenuhi gambaran ideal tersebut. Namun, seiring berjalannya waktu, gerakan body positivity atau pandangan positif mengenai tubuh semakin berkembang. Salah satu media yang menggunakan konsep body positivity adalah Germany's Next Topmodel (GNTM). Pada tahun 2022 program ini menggunakan tema keberagaman dan menampilkan kontestan dari beragam kelompok usia, bentuk tubuh, dan ras. Penelitian ini menganalisis secara semiotik keberagaman yang ditampilkan dalam GNTM 2022 dan menemukan bahwa keberagaman tersebut menjadi bentuk perlawanan terhadap standar kecantikan yang ada di Jerman, khususnya dalam dunia mode. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa meskipun GNTM 2022 mempromosikan ide keberagaman dan menunjukkan perlawanan terhadap penggambaran ideal perempuan, tetapi standar kecantikan yang seragam masih sangat melekat dalam industri mode di Jerman.

The media often portrays women as idealized and perfect. This contributes to body shaming of women who are perceived as not living up to that idealized image. However, over time, the body positivity movement has grown. One of the media that uses the concept of body positivity is Germany's Next Topmodel (GNTM). In 2022 this program used diversity and featured contestants from various age groups, body shapes, and races. This research semiotically analyzes the diversity displayed in GNTM 2022 and finds that diversity is a form of resistance to existing beauty standards in Germany, especially in the fashion world. The results of the analysis show that although GNTM 2022 promotes the idea of diversity and shows resistance to the ideal depiction of women, uniform beauty standards are still very much embedded in the fashion industry in Germany."
