American Dental Association (ADA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) dan petunjuk klinis Kementrian Kesehatan Republik Indonesia menganjurkan berkumur dengan iodin povidon sebelum tindakan kedokteran gigi.

Background: The current COVID-19 pandemic is raising awareness of the risk of transmission in the operating room from the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Oral and maxillofacial surgeons in particular are professions that are vulnerable to the transmission of SARS-CoV-2, this is because the scope of work is closely related to the SARS-CoV-2 reservoir, namely the oral cavity and oropharynx. The American Dental Association (ADA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the clinical guidelines of the Ministry of Health Republic of Indonesia recommend gargling with iodine povidon before commencing any surgical treatment. The cycle threshold (CT) value from the real time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) examination semi-quantitatively represents the viral load. Low blood oxygen levels or hypoxia can be defined as a measurable oxygen saturation below 94% in patients without lung disease.
Objective: To analyze the effect of mouthrinsing and gargling with iodine povidone 1% and iodine povidone 0.5% on the CT value of SARS-CoV-2.
Methods: 42 subjects were patients recruited from Persahabatan General Hospital infected with SARS-CoV-2 according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The subjects were divided into iodine povidone 1% group, iodine povidone 0.5% group, and the control group. The subjects were instructed to rinse their mouths for 30 seconds and gargle for 30 seconds at the back of the throat with 15 mL of the mouthrinse 3 times a day for 5 days. Analysis of CT values were carried out using RT-PCR on day 1, day 3 and day 5 after mouthrinsing and gargling.
Results: Significant differences were found in the results of the Friedman test, and the CT value demonstrated increases from the initial, day 1, day 3 and day 5 in the whole group and each group. The results of the Post-Hoc test with Wilcoxon showed significant differences in the whole day group of the CT value of the whole group and the iodine povidone 1% group. Significant differences in most of the day group were found from the results of the Post-Hoc test with Wilcoxon in the iodine povidone 0.5% group and the iodine povidone 1%, except between day 1 and day 3 and between day 3 and day 5 in the iodine povidone 0.5% group and between day 3 and day 5 in the control group. The highest increase in the initial CT value until day 1 was found in the iodine povidone 1%. Age and gender showed no significant correlation with changes in CT values. The increasing of CT value of RT-PCR did not cause any effect on oxgen saturation values, the saturation values remain normal.
Conclusion: Mouthrinsing and gargling with iodine povidone 1% and iodine povidone 0.5% had an effect on increasing the CT value of RT-PCR SARS-CoV-2 and also could maintain oxygen saturation in the normal range between 96-99%.

American Dental Association (ADA) dan Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) merekomendasikan berkumur hidrogen peroksida 1,5% atau iodin povidon 0,2% sebelum tindakan medis.

Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-2019) is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and poses a challenge because it can spread rapidly. The number of SARS-CoV-2 was found to be high at the beginning of infection in the oral cavity and upper respiratory tract. Surgery in the oral cavity poses high transmission risk of SARS-CoV-2. The American Dental Association (ADA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend the use of mouthrinse either 1.5% hydrogen peroxide or 0.2% povidone iodine before commencing any surgical treatment. Reducing the viral load in the upper respiratory tract at the early of infection may decrease the severity of disease progression and the risk of transmission. The cycle threshold (CT) value from the real time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) examination semi-quantitatively represents the viral load.
Objective: To analyze the effect of mouthrinsing and gargling with 1% povidone iodine and 3% hydrogen peroxide on the CT value of SARS-CoV-2.

One of the therapies for COVID-19 is convalescent plasma prepared by the Blood Transfusion Unit from donors who have recovered from COVID-19. Convalescent plasma contains neutralizing antibodies that inhibit the interaction between S protein and ACE2 receptors with a minimum requirement of a titer of 1:160 so that a neutalizing antibody detection system is needed such as a competitive ELISA-based serological test that is easy, inexpensive, fast, and does not require BSL 3 or 2. S1 spike recombinant protein that can be expressed in mammalian expression systems. This study aims to detect SARS-CoV-2 specific antibodies in COVID-19 convalescent plasma using recombinant Spike S1 protein. This study used the pD609 plasmid as an expression vector containing the spike S1 gene. DNA was transiently transfected into CHO cells. Immunostaining was performed after transfection to see the expression of the S1 spike recombinant protein in CHO cells. The post-transfected CHO cell media supernatans were analyzed by western blot and ELISA to see the reactivity to COVID19 convalescent serum. Immunostaining results showed that the plasmid pD609 S1 Spike Foldon-His could express the SARS-CoV-2 spike S1 recombinant protein in CHO cells. The results of Western blot and ELISA showed that the post-transfection CHO cell culture media supernatant was reactive to COVID-19 convalescent serum. S1 spike recombinant protein has the potential to be developed and used in specific antibody assays, but the results of protein expression is still low."

The period of the Covid-19 pandemic still occurs in Indonesia and even throughout the world. As of September 16, 2021, positive confirmed cases of Covid-19 worldwide have reached 226,236,577 cases spread across 224 countries, with 4,654,548 death cases (WHO, 2021). In Indonesia, during the same period, the number of positive cases reached 4,181,309 cases, with 139,919 deaths and 3,968,152 recovered cases (covid19.go.id). COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Various policies have been carried out by the government to prevent and control transmission, but the high interaction and mobility of the community is still a contributing factor resulting new cases every day. Workers is one of the community groups with a fairly large percentage, namely 69.17% (BPS, February 2020). The workplace is one of the locations that has the potential to cause COVID-19 transmission due to the very high interaction and mobility among the workers. In other words, the risk of transmission in the workplace will have a direct or indirect impact on the community and household environment. The workplace sector that is included in the high risk of COVID-19 transmission is the public transportation sector because it is a place for interaction and meeting point of peoples with different conditions. Based on this background, the implementation of COVID-19 prevention and control management in the workplace environment has a very important contribution to break the chain of transmission in the community. Characteristics of risk and business processes in the company PT. X which is a workplace as well as a public place, namely as a mode of public transportation, is certainly unique compared to workplaces in other industrial sectors. In addition, the location of the workplace which is in the city center is a huge challenge. For that PT. X really needs to have good and reliable risk control efforts. Failure to prevent and control COVID-19 infection can result in various losses, both in the form of fatalities, operational disruptions, a decline in public image and trust in the company, to business disruptions that can have an impact not only within the of PT. X internally but also to other related parties. This research is intended to see how PT. X, as a company engaged in the railway public transportation sector, has made efforts to prevent and control COVID-19 infections in the workplace. This study uses an analytical descriptive cross-sectional study design with a mixed method approach (qualitative & quantitative) through in-depth interviews, observation, questionnaires and document review methods to review the implementation of COVID-19 infection prevention and control management in the workplace of the railway public transportation sector, PT. X. Quantitative data that will be collected by researcher include company data regarding the status of COVID-19 in the workplace, including worker risk profiles, history of COVID-19 infection in the workplace, description of knowledge and attitudes towards COVID-19 risk control efforts, and availability of COVID-19 prevention and control facilities. This research was conducted at PT. X which is engaged in the railway public transportation sector located in DKI Jakarta Province. The research was conducted in the period from October to December 2021. The research respondents were the management and workers of PT. X who is directly involved in designing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the implementation of COVID-19 infection prevention and control management in the company. The respondents included representatives of company management, the work unit of the Risk, Quality, Safety, and Security Management (RQSM) Division, the Department of Quality, Safety, Health, and Environment (QSHE), and several representatives of worksite workers from related work units. Management of prevention and control of COVID-19 infection at PT. X is part of the company's Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) commitments and policies as stated in the Integrated Management System Policy (Railway Safety, OSH, Quality, Environment, and Security). The objectives of implementing the Integrated Management System include increasing the protection of workers and other people in the workplace, providing a safe, efficient, and productive environment to prevent work accidents and occupational diseases, as well as a commitment to eliminate any potential hazards related OSH and reduce the risk of OSH, innclude occupational safety risks and occupational health risks. One of the health risks that is managed is the risk of transmission of COVID-19 in the PT. X through the implementation of management of prevention and control of COVID-19 infection. Based on the research that has been carried out, an overview of the implementation of the management of prevention and control of COVID-19 infection in the workplace is obtained, which includes risks to workers, passengers, and business continuity. PT. X made various systematic efforts to control the risk of transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the workplace and in all railway facilities and infrastructure. The risk prevention and control carried out cover several approaches, namely through policies and strategic efforts determined by management, optimizing the role of workers in transportation modes, as well as collaborative participation from passengers. Although various efforts have been made, there are a few positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 at PT. X. Overall, the positivity rate throughout 2021 is 22%, with the highest percentage was occurred in the period of June 2021 at 38% and July 2021 at 29% in line with the high trend of “second wave” delta variant cases in Indonesia. However, since the COVID-19 pandemic period began in March 2020, there have been no new clusters of SARS-CoV-2 transmission in the workplace or in the operational area of PT. X. This reflects the efforts to implement the management of prevention and control of COVID-19 infection carried out at PT. X is already quite effective. This achievement is inseparable from the efforts and cooperation of various parties in carrying out the directions set by the company as well as the implementation of 3T procedures (testing, tracing, and treatment) in every suspect or positive confirmed cases, whether with minor, moderate, to severe symptoms."

This thesis discusses the description of Covid-19 prevention behavior in traditional market traders. The number of informants in the study was 13 people consisting of 10 main informants and 3 key informants. This study is a qualitative study using a rapid assessment procedures (RAP) approach. The theory used is the Health Belief Model. The results showed that most informants did not feel vulnerable to Covid-19 and did not consider Covid-19 a disease that could cause harm because the symptoms it caused were considered to be common. However, the informants still considered the implementation of prevention as important as an anticipatory step. The existence of obstacles in the form of discomfort using masks and obstacles in maintaining distance in the market make the practice of preventing Covid-19 less optimal. Besides that, the practice of washing hands, consuming vegetables and fruits, and physical activity is quite good."

Frontline workers are expected to perform well under difficult work environment during the times of COVID-19 pandemic. Frontline workers, a group of workers who still needs to do their job serving other people needs in public areas, struggles to maintain their job performance during the COVOD-19 pandemic. This study aims to investigate the relationship between job crafting and job performance through the mediating role of work engagement in COVID-19 frontline workers in Indonesia. This study also aims to investigate the relationship between job crafting and work engagement and the direct relationship between job crafting and job performance. Job Crafting is measured using the Job Crafting Scale constructed by Tims et al. (2012), Work Engagement is measured using the short version of UWES (Schaufeli et al., 2002), and Job Performance is measured using the short version of Job Performance Scale originally used by Mastenbroek et al., (2014). Data were collected from 257 Indonesian COVID-19 frontline workers age 20-64. The results show that job crafting directly relates to job performance. This study also shows that job crafting relates to work engagement and frontline workers’ work engagement relates to their job performance. Lastly, the results shows that job crafting indirectly relates to job performance through the mediating effect of work engagement."

Background: Given the potential high number of viruses in the oral cavity, with evidence that SARS-CoV-2 is found at the ACE2 receptor, efforts are needed to prevent transmission from patient to practitioner through contaminated saliva. This virus spreads faster because SARS-CoV-2 replicates in the upper respiratory tract by releasing pathogens that are passed from one person to another when sneezing and coughing through respiratory spread. It is estimated that the time of transmission can occur before symptoms appear (about 2.5 days earlier than the onset of symptoms). Mouth rinse and gargling with hydrogen peroxide can remove the epithelial surface layer on the oral mucosa which is known to have ACE2 receptors where SARS-CoV-2 binds and can inactivate the virus. Interim guidelines of the American Dental Association (ADA) recommend the use of 1.5% hydrogen peroxide as an option for preoperative oral rinse as an antiseptic mouth rinse. The cycle threshold value obtained by RT-PCR is semi-quantitative and able to distinguish between high and low viral loads.
Objective: To evaluate the difference in the effect of using mouth rinse between 1.5% hydrogen peroxide and 3% hydrogen peroxide mouth rinse and gargling on the RT-PCR cycle threshold value in COVID-19 patients.
Methods: 42 subjects were patients recruited from Persahabatan General Hospital infected with SARS-CoV-2 according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Following informed consent procedure, the research subjects were divided into 3 groups, namely the 1.5% hydrogen peroxide group, the 3% hydrogen peroxide group and the control group. The subjects were instructed to rinse their mouths for 30 seconds and gargle for 30 seconds at the back of the throat with 15 ml of the mouth rinse 3 times a day for 5 days. Analysis of cycle threshold values was carried out using RT-PCR on day 1, day 3 and day 5 after mouth rinse and gargling.
Results: There were significant differences in the results of the Friedman test and an increase in the RT-PCR cycle threshold value starting from the beginning, day 1, day 3 and day 5 in the whole group and each treatment group. The highest increase RT-PCR cycle threshold value at day 1 was found in the 3% hydrogen peroxide group, while the increase between day 1 to 3 and day 3 to day 5 was found in the 1.5% hydrogen peroxide group.
Conclusion: Mouth rinse and gargling with 1.5% hydrogen peroxide and 3% hydrogen peroxide has an effect on increasing the cycle threshold value of the SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR. Both 1.5% and 3% hydrogen peroxide concentration have a positive effect in reducing the number of viruses in the oral cavity, so the choice of using a lower hydrogen peroxide concentration can be an option to use for mouth rinse and gargling.

"In deep periodontal lesions, scaling and root planning (SRP) failed to complete elimination of periodontal bacteria, so chemical antimicrobial agents are used topically to destroy microorganism. Povidon-iodin 10% is one of antimicrobial agents that can be applied topically and
directly in the pocket. The aim of the research were evaluated the efficacy of povidon-iodin l0% as chemical antimicrobial agents locally applied into periodontal pocket. The data are obtained from patients with chronic adult periodontitis baseline periodontal pocket depth (PPD) are 5-7 mm. The teeth are scaled and root planed after clinical examinations ( plaque index, papilla bleeding index and periodontal pocket depth ) and test sites or control sites are assisned randomly. Topically application of povidon-iodin 10% at test sites and aquabides at control sites is applied at day 1st and day 7th. The clinical parameters are assessed at day 14th. The results of the research showed that application of povidon-iodin l0% afer SRP provide statistically significant more favorable papilla bleeding index reduction than SRP + aquabides after 14 days. The pocket depth reduction at test
sites are greater than control sites ( baseline PPD=6 and 7 mm). The conclusions of the research showed that application subgingival povidon-iodin 10% as adjunctive to SRP significantly reduce
PBI and PPD ( 6 & 7 mm ) than without application povidon-iodin 10%."
