"Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami secara mendalam peran guru dalam mengimplementasikan pendidikan multikultural di lingkungan Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) Cakra Buana. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif dan metode studi kasus, data dikumpulkan dengan teknik wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, serta analisis dokumen. Penelitian ini berawal dari pandangan bahwa meskipun wacana pendidikan multikultural telah banyak dibahas, khususnya di konteks Indonesia, fokus terhadap kontribusi konkret guru dalam menjalankan lima dimensi pendidikan multikultural yang dikemukakan oleh James A. Banks masih jarang mendapat perhatian khusus. Padahal, guru merupakan aktor utama yang menjembatani nilai-nilai keberagaman dengan praktik pembelajaran sehari-hari di ruang kelas. Temuan dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa guru di SMA Cakra Buana tidak hanya menjadi fasilitator pembelajaran, tetapi juga memainkan peran penting sebagai agen transformasi sosial yang secara sadar mengintegrasikan dimensi-dimensi pendidikan multikultural ke dalam kegiatan pembelajaran dan kehidupan sekolah. Melalui pendekatan kurikulum formal maupun tersembunyi, guru-guru di sekolah ini secara aktif menanamkan nilai toleransi, keadilan, dan penghargaan terhadap perbedaan dalam berbagai interaksi pedagogis mereka. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa peran guru bukanlah peran pasif yang semata menjalankan kebijakan sekolah, melainkan peran strategis yang membentuk budaya sekolah yang multikultural dan inklusif, sejalan dengan visi institusi yang menjunjung keberagaman.

This study aims to gain an in-depth understanding of the role of teachers in implementing multicultural education at Cakra Buana Senior High School (SMA Cakra Buana). Using a qualitative approach and a case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis. This study originates from the perspective that while multicultural education has been widely discussed—particularly in the Indonesian context—specific attention to the concrete contributions of teachers in enacting the five dimensions of multicultural education proposed by James A. Banks remains limited. Yet, teachers are key actors who bridge the values of diversity with the daily practices of classroom instruction. The findings reveal that teachers at SMA Cakra Buana not only serve as facilitators of learning but also play a significant role as agents of social transformation. They consciously integrate the dimensions of multicultural education into both classroom activities and broader school life. Through both formal and hidden curriculum, teachers actively instill the values of tolerance, justice, and respect for differences in their pedagogical interactions. This research affirms that the role of teachers is not a passive one that merely executes school policies, but a strategic role that shapes a multicultural and inclusive school culture in line with the institution’s commitment to diversity."

"ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini membahas mengenai internalisasi multikulturalisme di Sekolah
dengan latar keagamaan yang berbeda. Lokasi penelitian adalah SMAI Al Izhar
dengan latar keagamaan Islam dan SMA Kolese Gonzaga dengan latar keagamaan
Katolik. Kedua Sekolah berlokasi di Jakarta Selatan. Penelitian ini denga
menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan strategi studi kasus. pertama, untuk
menjelaskan perbandingan internalisasi multikulturalisme di SMAI Al Izhar dan
SMA Kolese Gonzaga yang memiliki latar keagamaan berbeda. Kedua, untuk
menjelaskan mengenai praktik multikultural dilihat melalui pola-pola relasi yang
terjalin antara aktor-aktor yang terlibat dalam proses internalisasi
multikulturalisme di sekolah. Analisis mengenai internalisasi multikulturalisme
dan praktik multikulturalisme di sekolah diketahui dari peran masing-masing
aktor yang terlibat di sekolah yaitu, Kepala Sekolah (Pimpinan Sekolah), Guru,
Karyawan, Peserta Didik dan Orang Tua Peserta Didik.
Beberapa temuan yang didapat pada penelitian ini dapat digambarkan
dalam beberapa aspek. Pertama, internalisasi multikulturalisme dipengaruhi oleh
nilai keagamaan masing-masing sekolah yang mewujud pada visi, misi, dan core
values. Kedua, internalisasi multikulturalisme kepada peserta didik dilakukan
melalui kegiatan pembelajaran dan program-program yang dirancang sekolah.
Ketiga, praktik multikulturalisme dilihat melalui pola-pola relasi yang terjalin
antara aktor-aktor yang terlibat dalam proses internalisasi multikulturalisme di
sekolah.

ABSTRACT
This study discusses the internalization of multiculturalism in school with
different religious background. SMAI Al Izhar with Islamic religious background
and SMA Kolese Gonzaga with Catholic religious background. Both of Schools
are located in South Jakarta. This study using qualitative methods with case study
strategy. The aims of this study are,first, to explain the internalization of
multiculturalism in SMAI Al Izhar and SMA Kolese Gonzaga which has a
different religious background. Second, to explain the practice of multicultural
through the patterns of relationships that exist between the actors involved in the
process of internalization of multiculturalism in schools. Analysis of the
internalization of multiculturalism and the practice of multiculturalism in school
known from the relationship pattern of each actor involved in the school. The
actors are Vice Pronciples, Teachers, Students. Employees, and the parents of
students.
This study can describe in several aspects. First, internalization of
multiculturalism influenced by religious values of each school as embodied in the
vision, mission, and core values. Second, internalization of multiculturalism
through learning activities and programs are designed by school. Third, the
practice of multiculturalism through the patterns of relationshipsthat exist between
the actors who involved in the process of internalization of multiculturalism in
schools."

"Penelitian ini ingin memahami tentang kondisi praksis pendidikan multikultural di lingkungan Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya Jakarta. Beberapa studi sebelumnya telah berpendapat bahwa kondisi praksis pendidikan multikultural di Indonesia dan di beberapa negara lainnya yang memiliki karakteristik multikultural serupa seperti Indonesia, masih jauh dari kata baik dan efektif. Pada dasarnya, penulis setuju dengan hasil temuan dari studi-studi tersebut. Namun menurut penulis, studi-studi tersebut belum membahas secara lebih lanjut mengenai peran dari lima dimensi yang ada pada teori pendidikan multikultural. Padahal, pembahasan mengenai hal tersebut sangatlah penting, khususnya dalam menggambarkan kondisi praksis pendidikan multikultural di sebuah institusi pendidikan. Oleh sebab itu, penelitian kali ini berusaha untuk mengisi celah kekosongan tersebut. Lebih lanjut, sejalan dengan argumen sebelumnya maka beberapa pernyataan tesis dari penelitian ini adalah pertama Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya Jakarta telah melaksanakan praksis pendidikan multikultural baik melalui pendekatan kurikulum formal maupun melalui pendekatan kurikulum tersembunyi. Kedua, kondisi dari pelaksanaan praksis pendidikan multikultural tersebut dapat dianalisis lebih lanjut dengan menggunakan teori Pendidikan Multikultural milik Banks. Data dalam penelitian kali ini diperoleh melalui studi literatur, studi dokumen, kegiatan observasi lapangan, dan wawancara mendalam dengan sejumlah dosen dan mahasiswa yang berasal dari Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya Jakarta.

This research aims to understand the multicultural education praxis at Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya Jakarta. Some of the previous studies have argued that the multicultural education praxis in Indonesia and in some other countries with similar multicultural characteristics as Indonesia is far from good and effective. Essentially, the author agrees with the findings of these studies. Nevertheless, according to the author, these studies have not further discussed the five dimensions’ role in the theory of multicultural education. In fact, the discussion on this matter is very important, especially in describing the conditions of multicultural education praxis in an educational institution. Thus, this research attempts to fill the gap. Furthermore, in line with the previous argument, some thesis statements from this research are first, Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya Jakarta has implemented multicultural education praxis both through the formal curriculum approach and through the hidden curriculum approach. Second, the conditions of the praxis implementation of multicultural education can be further analyzed by using Banks’ Multicultural Education theory. The data in this research was obtained through literature studies, document studies, field observation activities, and in-depth interviews with a number of lecturers and students from Universitas Katolik Indonesia Atma Jaya Jakarta.
