Abstrak :
The present work is the first installment of a long-rings project, born of the conviction that progress in Indo-European studies is contingent upon a thorough reconsideration of central morphology in the light of the theory laryngeal, without dissolving the whole into a Kurylowtczian hotbed of analogistlc ferment. For this purpose the area of Sauisure’s initial progress servos as a starting point, followed by other questions that concern Indo-European morphology generally and cannot be localized in single dialects, including the noun and the pronoun.

This book include the course of recent anthropological fieldwork among the Basemah in the highlands of South Sumatra, study a number of heirloom manuscripts. These texts are written in a syllabic script apparently derived from Pallava writing of South India. At this point cannot assign a certain date to the introduction of the script to South Sumatra, but it is likely that the several South Sumatran highland peoples who have a literature in this script, received the writing from contact with the Empire of Srivijaya which flourished between the seventh and thirteenth centuries in the Palembang lowland area.
A philological study of the South Sumatran literature be required a level of competence in several Sumatran languages and Javanese as well as Arabic and Sanskrit. That relate to agricultural development.
An examination of ilmu in this way may begin to reveal a style of social interaction, a mode of perceiving and evaluating others and an attitude toward effective action and the constellation of important values that prevail throughout the Malay world.

Abstrak :
The following essays have as their theme the “ translation” of three conventional tropes in ancient and medieval poetry: the long simile of Homer and his imitators, the personified landscape of Roman pastoral, and the nature parallelism of the medieval love lyric. This book describe the uses of natural imagery in a few of the classic loci of each trope and to assess some of the conceptual and rhetorical demands to which these uses answered. Then selected a later version of the trope and considered the ways in which the imagery and its analogical function changed as these demands lost some of their original force or were supplanted by new ones.
