"This book discusses the revolution of cycles and rhythms that is expected to take place in different branches of science and engineering in the 21st century, with a focus on communication and information processing. It presents high-quality papers in vibration sciences, rhythms and oscillations, neurosciences, mathematical sciences, and communication. It includes major topics in engineering and structural mechanics, computer sciences, biophysics and biomathematics, as well as other related fields. Offering valuable insights, it also inspires researchers to work in these fields. The papers included in this book were presented at the 1st International Conference on Engineering Vibration, Communication and Information Processing (ICoEVCI-2018), India."

"This book describes an original improvement in power quality of photovoltaic generation systems obtained by the use of a multilevel inverter implemented with level doubling network (LDN). Modulation principles and harmonic analysis of output voltages are proposed and introduced in detail for both single and three-phase LDN configurations. The analysis is then extended to dc-link current and voltage, with emphasis to low-frequency harmonics and switching frequency ripple. This work represents the first comprehensive implementation of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) schemes using the ripple correlation control (RCC) algorithm in the presence of multiple ripple harmonics, such as in the case of multiĀlevel inverters. Numerical simulations and experimental tests are carefully reported here, together with practical insights into the design of dc-link capacitors."

"This textbook provides an in-depth treatment of the physics of power semiconductor devices that are commonly used by the power electronics industry. Drawing upon decades of industry and teaching experience and using numerous examples and illustrative applications, the author discusses in detail the various device performance attributes that allow practicing engineers to develop energy-efficient products. Coverage includes all types of power rectifiers and transistors and analytical models for explaining the operation of all power semiconductor devices are developed and demonstrated in each section of the book. Throughout the book, emphasis is placed on deriving simple analytical expressions that describe the underlying physics and enable representation of the device electrical characteristics. This treatment is invaluable for teaching a course on power devices because it allows the operating principles and concepts to be conveyed with quantitative analysis. The treatment focuses on silicon devices but includes the unique attributes and design requirements for emerging silicon carbide devices. This new edition also includes a chapter on the impact of power semiconductor devices on energy savings and reduction of carbon emissions."

"This book reports on a comprehensive study addressing the dynamic responses of hydropower plants under diverse conditions and disturbances, and analyzes their stability and oscillations. Multiple models based on eight existing hydropower plants in Sweden and China were developed and used for simulations and theoretical analysis with various degrees of complexity and for different purposes, and compared with on-site measurements for validations. The book offers important insights into the understanding of the hydraulic, mechanical and electrical coupling mechanisms, up to market conditions and incentives. It recommends control strategies for a more stable and efficient operation of hydropower plants."
