Abstrak :
This book deals with the chemical evolution of galaxies of all morphological types (ellipticals, spirals and irregulars) and stresses the importance of the star formation histories in determining the properties of stellar populations in different galaxies. The topic is approached in a didactical and logical manner via galaxy evolution models which are compared with observational results obtained in the last two decades: The reader is given an introduction to the concept of chemical abundances and learns about the main stellar populations in our Galaxy as well as about the classification of galaxy types and their main observables. In the core of the book, the construction and solution of chemical evolution models are discussed in detail, followed by descriptions and interpretations of observations of the chemical evolution of the Milky Way, spheroidal galaxies, irregular galaxies and of cosmic chemical evolution.

Classical solutions play an important role in quantum field theory, high-energy physics and cosmology. Real-time soliton solutions give rise to particles, such as magnetic monopoles, and extended structures, such as domain walls and cosmic strings, that have implications for early universe cosmology. William Gascoigne (c.1612-44) was the inventor of the telescopic sight and micrometer (instruments crucial to the advance of astronomy). His name is now known to historians of science around the world. For some considerable time after his tragic death at the age of 32 in the English Civil War, however, it seemed as if his achievements would be consigned to oblivion. Most of his papers were lost and even the few that survived have largely disappeared. This is the story of how his work was rescued. Into this story is woven an account of the state of astronomy and optics during Gascoigne’s lifetime, so that the reader can appreciate the significance of his discoveries.

Makalah ini membahas tentang lanskap budaya yang terkait dengan kosmologi Hindu di Situs Liangan. Situs Liangan terletak di kaki Gunung Sindoro dan berlatar belakang Hindu. Salah satu studi arkeologi dalam melihat situs arkeologi di kawasan Liangan adalah studi arkeologi permukiman, khususnya melalui pendekatan arkeologi lanskap budaya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk merekonstruksi aktivitas manusia melalui lanskap budaya dan terkait dengan kosmologi Hindu di Situs Liangan. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, Situs Liangan dapat dibagi menjadi empat wilayah dan memiliki ruang lanskap alam berupa dataran tinggi yang dimanfaatkan dan disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan masyarakat Liangan di masa lalu. Caranya dengan membentuk teras-teras yang berada di sela-sela dinding teras yang dikeraskan dengan balok-balok batu yang biasa disebut talud. Selain itu, terlihat adanya pembagian konsep kosmologis pada areal yang meliputi pekarangan dan areal di luar pekarangan Situs Liangan.

The Liangan site is located at the foot of Mount Sindoro and has a Hindu background. One of the archaeological studies in looking at archaeological sites in the Liangan area is the study of settlement archeology, particularly through an archaeological approach to cultural landscapes. The purpose of this research is to reconstruct human activities through the cultural landscape and associated with Hindu cosmology in the Liangan Site. The method used is descriptive analysis. Based on the research results, the Liangan Site can be divided into four areas and has natural landscape spaces in the form of highlands that were utilized and adapted to the needs of the Liangan people in the past. You do this by forming terraces that are in between or terrace walls which are hardened with stone blocks which are commonly called talud. Also, it is seen that there is a division of cosmological concepts in the area including the yard and the area outside the Liangan Site yard.
