This volume covers concepts such as life?s origin, hypothesis of Panspermia and of life possibility in the Cosmos. The topic of extraterrestrial life is currently ?hot? and the object of several congresses and conferences. While the diversity of ?normal? biota is well known, life on the edge of the extremophiles is more limited and less distributed. Other subjects discussed are astrobiology with the frozen worlds of mars, Europa and titan where extant or extinct microbial life may exist in subsurface oceans, conditions on icy mars with its saline, alkaline, and liquid water which has been recently discovered, chances of habitable Earth-like [or the terrestrial analogues] exoplanets, and SETI?s search for extraterrestrial Intelligence.

A major outstanding problem in physics is understanding the nature of the dark energy that is driving the accelerating expansion of the Universe. This thesis makes a significant contribution by demonstrating, for the first time, using state-of-the-art computer simulations, that the interpretation of future galaxy survey measurements is far more subtle than is widely assumed, and that a major revision to our models of these effects is urgently needed. The work contained in the thesis was used by the WiggleZ dark energy survey to measure the growth rate of cosmic structure in 2011 and had a direct impact on the design of the surveys to be conducted by the European Space Agency's Euclid mission, a 650 million euro project to measure dark energy.

ABSTRAK
In Northern Thailand, a game that builds upon an uncanny cooperation between human beings and rhinoceros beetles xylotrupes Gideon has developed at a high level of refinement and institutionalization. Beetle fighting is even being widely presented as a marker of the local identity and a local ecological wisdom. In this paper, I will show how it is not so much the coleoptera that symbolize a harmonious connection built by human populations with their natural environment, but rather a question of what happens in the intimate relationship between human beings and insects. Following the way players build on the great alterity between them and the insects, this article will address how the technical and conceptual handling of the beetles shapes pragmatically an original cosmology. It will pay specific attention to the ways players try to connect with their coleopteran by projecting human traits on them and adopting their communication mode. Through these, we can examine how beetles force humans to reflect on their engagement in the world, up to the point where it brings this game onto the stage of political ecology.

ABSTRACT
Mosque plays a significant role in Islamic culture and civilization in Indonesia, on the Island of Java. The Mantingan Mosque in Jepara, Central Java, is one of the early mosques build at the end of the fifteenth century during the Demak sultanate. This mosque has a close relationship with the development of Islam in Java because during the mosque was built when Javanese people were still dominated with Hinduism. Hence, when Islam come to Java, some adaptation and changes happened to the application of Javanese culture for built environment, and those adaptations were reflected in the architecture of the mosque and the cemetery complex in Mantingan. The mosque was built next to the cemetery complex of Mantingan and adopted forms, cosmological orientation and architecture of Javanese people. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze architectural elements of Mantingan Mosque and Cemetery Complex in order to understand the connection of the architecture of Mantingan Mosque and Cemetery Complex with Javanese cosmology. The finding iof this thesis is that Javanese cosmology plays an important role in the formation of the mosque and cemetery complex through the creation of an axis. Moreover, the axis also relates to the duality concept in Javanese cosmology that shows balance and unity including in the architecture and the development of Mantingan Mosque and Cemetery Complex.

The concept of cosmology that is popular today is dominated by the scientific explanation of the theoretical physics and astronomy. In its history, the discussion of cosmology has been studied in the scope of philosophy and theology. This study aims to reveal the Javanese cosmological concept contained in the manuscript Serat Jangkanipun ing Tanah Jawi. The text of the Serat Jangkanipun ing Tanah Jawi manuscript is a kind of primbon that contains a prediction of the periodization of time in Java from the beginning of its formation to the end of the universe (the end of the world). This study uses a philological research method. The result of the research shows that the Javanese cosmological concept views the world as a unity of provisions consisting of interconnected cosmos and influences one another. The Javanese cosmological view is very much influenced by the religion adopted by its society.

This book presents recent progress on uniformly hyperbolic attractors in dynamical systems from a physical rather than mathematical perspective (e.g. the Plykin attractor, the Smale – Williams solenoid). The structurally stable attractors manifest strong stochastic properties, but are insensitive to variation of functions and parameters in the dynamical systems. Based on these characteristics of hyperbolic chaos, this monograph shows how to find hyperbolic chaotic attractors in physical systems and how to design a physical systems that possess hyperbolic chaos.
