, Image processing and trajectory prediction play an important role in today’s
robotic technology and its applications are limitless. The most common method of
detecting an object is through the use of colour filter and a sensor to measure its
distance. However, most of the time, colour filter is very vulnerable to noise and
the robot would consume a huge chunk of processing time using distance sensor.
In this paper, a Kalman Filter is developed base on a constant velocity model.
This Kalman Filter will provide a better estimator on the object’s position and
estimate the position of the object when there are occlusions. In addition to the
Kalman Filter, a novel sensorless approach to measure an object’s distance is also
developed in order to improve processing time. After the coordinates of the object
are obtained, an algorithm that could predict its landing coordinates is also
developed by using MATLAB. This landing coordinates could then be fed into a
motor system in a robot which will then move towards the predicted coordinates.]

Electronic waste or e-waste is an electrical and electronic equipment that is not used anymore and regarded as waste by the user. E-waste consist of precious metals and plastic some of the materials considered as hazardous category, it cannot decompose naturally, and mistreatment of e-waste can harm environment and human health. The precious metals contained in e-waste can be recovered and recycled for further use and economical value. The method of recovery is by electric conductivity-based separation, namely eddy current-based separation, interaction between alternative magnetic field and eddy current induces by the magnetic field of a rotating drum wrapped with permanent magnet generates a repulsive force (Lorentz force) on the metal and separates the metal, however there is an inaccurate separation process. This undergraduate thesis research is to investigate the Lorentz force that will be generated in certain scrap metal conditions in order to maximize the separation rate of eddy current-based electronic waste separator using image processing software.

Currently, the measurements of the Zone of Inhibition are still using manual measurement tools such as a ruler or caliper. Now with the development of technology enables this measurement based on digital cameras and image processing. The presence of another supporting devices such as light sources, causing the camera position not perpendicular to the object. This study introduces the tilt correction system on camera-based measurement of the inhibition zones, which consists of hardware (measuring instruments and cameras) and software. Image processing techniques such as geometrical transformations, edge detection, and line detection is used to build the automated tilt correction system. The experiments have been conducted using standard checkerboard calibrator objects and Zone of Inhibition objects at various orientations and the angle of rotation of the object. In general, based on experiment results, the system has been successfully implemented for not perpendicular dimensional measurements of zone of inhibition. Tilt correction system improves the measurement system performance with a reduction in estimated errors up to 39,6%. The maximum angle with a tolerance level that is acceptable is 40°.
