"Tindak kriminal di Indonesia semakin meningkat, baik variasi maupun jumlahnya setiap tahun. Tindak kriminal dalam penelitian ini termasuk pembunuhan, perkosaan, penganiayaan, perusakan, pencurian, penipuan, dan kasus lain yang membuat masyarakat merasa tidak aman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor apa saja yang mempengaruhi jumlah tindak kriminal di Provinsi Sumatera Utara serta mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh waktu dan tempat kejadian di 33 kabupaten/kota di Provinsi Sumatera Utara pada tahun 2016. Penelitian ini menggunakan data sekunder yang dihimpun oleh POLRI, BPS, dan Dinsos di Provinsi Sumatera Utara pada tahun 2013, 2014, 2015 dan 2016. Variabel bebas yang digunakan adalah jumlah pengangguran, jumlah penduduk miskin, kepadatan penduduk, indeks pembangunan manusia, jumlah tempat Ibadah, laju pertumbuhan ekonomi, dan jumlah keluarga bermasalah sosial psikologis. Untuk menjawab tujuan penelitian ini maka dilakukan pemodelan regresi dengan memasukkan unsur spasial sebagai pendekatan analisis data spasial. Variabel Dummy berfungsi untuk mengetahui apakah ada pengaruh waktu terhadap terjadinya tindak kriminal di 33 kabupaten/kota Provinsi Sumatera Utara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variabel jumlah pengangguran, jumlah penduduk miskin, kepadatan penduduk, dan indeks pembangunan manusia signifikan pada model.

Crime in Indonesia is increasing, both variation and number every year. Crimes in this research include murder, rape, torture, vandalism, theft, fraud, and other cases that make people feel insecure. This study aims to determine what factors affect the number of criminal acts in North Sumatra Province and find out how the influence of time and place in 33 districts cities in the Province of North Sumatra in 2016. This study uses secondary data collected by POLRI, BPS and Dinsos in North Sumatra Province in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. The independent variables used are the number of unemployed, the number of poor, the population density, the human development index, the number of places of worship, the rate of economic growth, and the number of families with social problems psychologi. To answer the purpose of this study, it is done regression modeling by incorporating spatial elements as a spatial data analysis approach. Dummy variable serves to determine whether there is influence of time to the occurrence of criminal acts in 33 districts cities of North Sumatra Province. The results showed that the variables of unemployment, number of poor, population density, and human development index were significant in model."
