"PT XYZ mengoperasikan tambang batubara di Kalimantan Timur dan merupakan salah satu tambang batubara ekspor terbesar di dunia. Perusahaan memiliki conveyor belt sebagai salah satu peralatan utama untuk menangani material pertambangan. PT XYZ bermaksud untuk melibatkan Kontraktor yang memenuhi syarat (PT ABC) untuk melaksanakan C26 conveyor belt change out. Pekerjaan tersebut meliputi the work management and preparation, provision of special equipment, trial splicing, stacking and pre-splicing, change out, dan commissioning. PT ABC harus memiliki kemampuan dan pengalaman yang terbukti dalam pekerjaan ini yang didukung dengan teknisi terampil, pekerja dan peralatan yang baik. PT ABC juga harus mematuhi seluruh kebijakan, prosedur dan peraturan perusahaan khususnya Kualitas, Keselamatan, kesehatan, dan Lingkungan saat melakukan pekerjaan tersebut di lokasi PT XYZ. Untuk memenuhi target proyek yang diharapkan oleh PT XYZ, PT ABC merancang ruang lingkup pekerjaan, metodologi, tenaga kerja, peralatan dan jadwal untuk melaksanakan change out pada conveyor belt overland C-26. Dalam proyek ini, penulis berperan sebagai project sponsor/champion. Jabatan ini merupakan pimpinan tertinggi yang mewakili manajemen PT ABC dalam proyek ini dan mempunyai tugas dan tanggung jawab untuk memberikan segala dukungan dan persetujuan dari manajemen puncak yang diperlukan baik mengenai aspek teknis maupun non teknis, misalnya rencana anggaran biaya (RAB), keselamatan-kesehatan-lingkungan (SHE), manajemen proyek, desain teknik, dan lain-lain untuk keberhasilan proyek. Metode yang disiapkan adalah dengan fokus pada measuring conveyor belts, belt disassembly, belt installation, and hot splicing, serta testing belt splicing results menggunakan the splicing inspection test procedure dan pull-out test.  Hasil akhir yang dicapai penulis dan PT ABC adalah pekerjaan dapat selesai seluruhnya dalam waktu 18 hari kalender, atau lebih cepat tiga hari dari waktu yang ditentukan. Hasil penyambungan belt adalah diameter kabel 5,0 mm, jumlah kabel sebanyak 81 kabel, penutup atas 7 mm, penutup bawah 5 mm, dan ketebalan total 16,8 mm (+1,8/-1,00 mm). Hasil akhir tersebut sesuai dengan spesifikasi yang ditentukan. Sedangkan untuk hasil uji tarik diperoleh nilai kekuatan tarik sebesar 104,33 N/mm; nilai tersebut telah memenuhi target yaitu minimal 90 N/mm. Seluruh proses pekerjaan dari awal hingga akhir telah mengikuti peraturan yang berlaku baik di PT XYZ maupun pemerintah daerah. Hingga proyek selesai, tidak terjadi insiden atau penalti akibat pelanggaran kode etik atau peraturan yang berlaku.

PT XYZ operates a coal mine in East Kalimantan and is one of the largest exports coal mines in the world. The company owned conveyor belt as one of its main equipment to handle mining materials. PT XYZ intends to engage qualified Contractor (PT ABC) to carry out the change out of C26’s Belt. The work comprises the work management and preparation, provision of special equipment, trial splicing, stacking and pre-splicing, change out, and commissioning. PT ABC shall have capability and proven experience in this work that are well supported with skillful technicians, laborers and good equipment. PT ABC shall also comply with all policies, procedures and regulations of the company particularly Quality, Safety and Environment while conducting such work in the premises of PT XYZ. In order to meet the project target was expected by PT XYZ, PT ABC designed a scope of work, methodology, manpower, equipment and schedule to carry out partial belt change-out of the C-26 overland conveyor. In this project, the author has the role of project sponsor/champion. This position is the highest leader representing PT ABC management in this project and has the duty and responsibility to provide all support and approval from top management that is needed both regarding technical and non-technical aspects, for example, cost budget plans (RAB), safety-health-environment (SHE), project management, design for engineering, and others for the success of the project. The method prepared was to focus on measuring conveyor belts, belt disassembly, belt installation, and hot splicing, as well as testing belt splicing results using the splicing inspection test procedure and pull-out test. The final result achieved by the author and PT ABC is that the work can be completed completely within 18 calendar days, or three days faster than the specified time. The results of belt splicing are a cord diameter of 5.0 mm, a total of 81 cords, a top cover of 7 mm, a bottom cover of 5 mm, and a total thickness of 16.8 mm (+1.8/-1.00 mm). The final result was in accordance with the specified specifications. Meanwhile, for the pull-out test results, the pull-out strength value was 104.33 N/mm; this value has met the target, namely a minimum of 90 N/mm. The entire work process, from start to finish, has followed the regulations in force both at PT XYZ and local government. Until the project was completed, no incidents or penalties occur due to violations of the code of ethics or applicable regulations."

"Berkebalikan dengan kemunduran peran militer dalam kehidupan sosial dan politik praktis di Indonesia pasca runtuhnya otoritarianisme Orde Baru, anak-anak muda tetap antusias untuk berkarir sebagai tentara. Beberapa studi berpendapat bahwa fenomena tersebut disebabkan adanya pembebasan biaya pendidikan yang ditawarkan oleh militer, jaminan karir pasti dengan gaji dan tunjangan-tunjangan yang sesuai. Studi-studi lainnya menyebutkan bahwa hal itu ditentukan oleh adanya peluang meningkatkan status sosial, implementasi semangat patriotisme, tingginya nasionalisme, keinginan untuk mewujudkan perdamaian, dan misi kemanusiaan. Pada dasarnya penulis setuju dengan studi-studi tersebut. Namun, studi-studi tersebut masih terbatas dalam membahas aspek immaterial yang masih relevan dalam mendasari keputusan anak-anak muda Indonesia untuk berkarir sebagai tentara dewasa ini. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fenomena tersebut juga disebabkan oleh penerimaan atas citra militer Indonesia berkaitan dengan budaya organisasi khas yang dimiliki dan profesionalitas yang secara progresif terus ditunjukkan. Citra militer terkonstruksi dan terus diinternalisasi melalui agen-agen sosialisasi, seperti keluarga, lingkungan tempat tinggal, sekolah, kelompok teman sebaya, media massa, media sosial, hingga film. Hasilnya, terdapat penerimaan positif masyarakat atas citra militer yang ditunjukkan, yang pada gilirannya berpengaruh dalam pembentukan persepsi anak muda untuk berkarir sebagai tentara. Penulis menggunakan data yang diperoleh melalui studi pustaka, studi dokumen, dan wawancara bersama sejumlah taruna aktif Akademi Militer dan siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas.

In contrast to the decline in the military's role in practical social and political life in Indonesia after the collapse of the Orde Baru authoritarianism, young people remain enthusiastic about a career as a soldier. Several studies argue that this phenomenon is due to the exemption of education fees offered by the military and guaranteed career guarantees with appropriate salaries and benefits. Other studies say that it determines the opportunity to increase social status, implement the spirit of patriotism, high nationalism, desire to realize peace, and humanitarian missions. Basically, the authors agree with these studies. However, these studies are still limited in discussing the immaterial aspects that are still relevant in underpinning the decisions of young Indonesians to have careers as soldiers today. This research findings show that this phenomenon is also caused by the acceptance of the Indonesian military image, related to its distinctive organizational culture and organizations that progressively show professionalism. The military image is constructed and continues to internalize through socialization agents, such as family, neighborhood, schools, peer groups, mass media, social media, and films. As a result, there is a positive public acceptance of the military image shown, which influences the formation of young people's perceptions of a career as a soldier. The author uses data obtained through literature studies, document studies, and interviews with several active cadets of the Military Academy and senior high school students."

"Pelaksanaan Pembangunan Proyek seringkali mengalami keterlambatan. Sebagai Project Manager dari Owner, yang bertanggung jawab perihal mutu, biaya, dan waktu pelaksanaan proyek, praktikan berupaya untuk mencegah keterlambatan dalam pelaksanaan pekerjaan struktur mulai dari pekerjaan raft foundation, hingga topping off, yakni pengecoran struktur atap di lantai 30. Laporan Praktik Keinsinyuran ini berisikan upaya pencegahan yang dilakukan secara bersama oleh Praktikan, Kontraktor, dan Manajemen Konstruksi di lapangan, guna mencapai waktu pelaksanaan yang tepat. Upaya tersebut kemudian dianalisa menggunakan kerangka Profesionalisme, Kesehatan Keselamatan Kerja dan Lingkungan, dan Kode Etik Insinyur Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia. Salah satu pembelajaran penting dalam praktik ini adalah bahwa percepatan hanya dapat dilakukan jika dan hanya jika mutu pelaksanaan sudah baik dan didukung oleh tim kerja yang handal. Bilamana suatu pekerjaan, yang mutunya belum baik, dipaksa dipercepat dan mengakibatkan komplain, justru malah akan memperlambat proyek.

As the Owner’s Project Manager, Practitioner is responsible for the quality, cost, and delivery of the project. As Construction Projects is often delayed, Practitioner attempts to complete the Works on-time, preventing delay. The study period synchronized with the construction of raft foundation until roof casting (“topping off”) at the 30th storey. This Engineering Practice Report consists of the efforts done collaboratively by the Builder, Construction Manager, and the Practitioner to achieve the Completion of the structural works to be on-time. This joint effort is then analysed using the Professionalism, Health, Safety, and Environment, and the Engineering Code of Ethics framework. One important lesson learnt from this practice is that Works shall not be expedited should the quality of the result is still questionable. Uncertainty in quality has the risk of complain and should the complaint arise, it would cause further repair works which takes longer time than if it is not initially expedited."
