"Perang Vietnam (1963-1975) merupakan salah satu konflik terbesar di dunia selama perang dingin yang melibatkan Vietnam Utara dan Vietnam Selatan serta didukung oleh Amerika Serikat dan Uni Soviet. Berbeda dengan Amerika Serikat yang mendukung Vietnam Selatan secara terang-terangan, dukungan Uni Soviet terhadap Vietnam Utara sangat terbatas dan tertutup. Untuk menjelaskan mengenai dukungan Uni Soviet di Vietnam Utara menggunakan metode penelitian sejarah melalui dengan menelusuri berbagai jenis dokumen mulai dari milik Central Inteligence Agency hingga arsip dari Aleksander Yakovlev (ideolog Uni Soviet) yang menghasilkan kesimpulan bahwa dukungan Uni Soviet walau terjadi secara tersembunyi namun tetap ada.
