"Penelitian ini membahas pencarian informasi mahasiswa Ilmu Sejarah Fakultas Ilmu Pengetahuan Budaya, Universitas Indonesia dalam memenuhi kebutuhan sumber informasi sejarah untuk penyusunan skripsi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan lima informan. Model penelitian ini menggunakan gabungan model perilaku pencarian informasi Ellis dan Intervening Variable milik Wilson. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa program studi Ilmu Sejarah menggunakan arsip berbagai jenis, buku, jurnal, narasumber, dan internet. Lokasi yang paling sering dikunjungi adalah Perpustakaan Universitas, Perpustakaan Nasional dan Arsip Nasional Indonesia. Perilaku pencarian informasi dengan enam tahapan dari Ellis tidak semuanya dilakukan informan. Hambatan yang dihadapi adalah personal, interpersonal hingga lingkungan.

This research analyzes information seeking behavior of students of Historical Science in Faculty of Humanities, University Indonesia. In complete the needs of historical information sources in thesis writing. This research uses qualitative descriptive method, by using five informants. This research also combines information seeking behavior model of Ellis and intervening variables of Wilson. The results shows that historical science’s students use various archive for data that they need as primary source, books, journals, resource persons, and internet. Location which is often visited by informants are UI’s library, national library, national archive of Indonesia. Informants not use all stages of the six stages in information seeking behavior. The informants also face personal, interpersonal and environmental barriers."
