Disertasi ini membahas konteks komodifikasi ruang poskolonial dengan mengambil studi kasus yang terjadi pada PG Colomadu (1861) yang mengalami alih fungsi menjadi De Tjolomadoe (2018). Komodifikasi ruang yang terjadi di Kawasan peri urban Colomadu- Karanganyar ini melibatkan kepentingan aktor-aktor yang saling berkelindan dalam memaknai perubahan sebuah situs industri mejadi situs komersial. Tujuan penulisan disertasi ini untuk mengetahui pemaknaan alih fungsi tersebut yang diduga merupakan kelanjutan dari praktik relasi kuasa yang pernah berlangsung sejak masa kolonial. Untuk itu diperlukan analisis dengan membongkar keterlibatan para aktor dalam relasi kekuasaan sejak situs ini pertama kali didirikan hingga dalam proses alih fungsinya, dan juga untuk melihat respon masyarakat sekitar dengan kehadiran situs komersial De Tjolomadoe. Metode sejarah dan etnografi digunakan untuk mengolah data dan temuan yang digunakan untuk menjawab hipotesis dari disertasi ini. Dari hasil analisis dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa praktik pemanfaatan ruang poskolonial yang terjadi saat ini merupakan keberlanjutan dari praktik yang berlangsung sejak masa kolonial, meskipun memiliki pola dan strategi yang berbeda, tergantung pada relasi kekuasaan antara para aktor di masanya. ......This dissertation discusses the context of the commodification of postcolonial space by taking a case study that occurred in PG Colomadu (1861), which underwent adaptive reuse to De Tjolomadoe (2018). The transfer of functions in the Colomadu- Karanganyar peri-urban area involved the interests of intertwined actors in interpreting the change of an industrial site into a commercial site. This dissertation aims to find out the meaning of this transfer of function, which is thought to be a continuation of the practice of power relations that has been going on since the colonial period. For this reason, an analysis is needed to dismantle the involvement of actors in power relations since this site was first established to transfer its functions and to see the response of the surrounding community to the presence of the De Tjolomadoe commercial site. Historical and ethnographic methods were used to process the data and findings used to answer the hypothesis of this dissertation. From the analysis results, it can be concluded that the current practice of using postcolonial space is a continuation of the practices going on since the colonial period. However, they have different patterns and strategies, depending on the power relations between the actors at that time.
