"Di tengah struktur ekonomi politik media penyiaran televisi yang cenderung memihak pada keuntungan golongan tertentu, praktek yang mengarah pada kepentingan industri dan mengabaikan tanggung jawab sosial pada publik, serta lemahnya peran regulator dalam mengatur penyiaran televisi agar sesuai dengan semangat demokratisasi penyiaran, keberadaan lembaga pemantau media (media watch) yang diinisiasi oleh masyarakat sipil dapat menjadi suatu alternatif kekuatan untuk mendorong keberpihakan media terhadap kepentingan publik. Situs www.remotivi.or.id adalah media alternatif yang dibentuk Remotivi untuk menyampaikan gagasan alternatif tentang wajah pertelevisian nasional di Indonesia. Melalui pendekatan penelitian kualitatif, peneliti bermaksud menjawab pertanyaan bagaimana Remotivi menggunakan situs web Remotivi.or.id sebagai media alternatif untuk menyuarakan kepentingan publik dalam persoalan demokratisasi penyiaran televisi di Indonesia. Dari hasil penelitian ditemukan bahwa internet dapat dimanfaatkan oleh kelompok masyarakat sipil untuk melakukan kritik terhadap televisi dan mendorong keberpihakan televisi kepada kepentingan publik. Fungsi internet dirasakan para pegiat Remotivi untuk membentuk pesan yang merepresentasikan gagasan kritis mereka, menjaring dukungan, serta mendorong perubahan wajah televisi di Indonesia melalui advokasi.
