"Aset tetap adalah salah satu komponen penting yang dimiliki perusahaan karena akan menjadi salah satu alat dalam menghasilkan pendapatan atau cash flow. Oleh karena itu, apabila ada aset tetap yang sudah berkurang nilainya, atau secara kondisi fisik tidak menghasilkan cash flow yang positif bagi perusahaan, aset tersebut dapat diusulkan untuk dihapuskan. Proses penghapusan aset tetap bersifat penting karena berdampak pada kondisi neraca yang dimiliki oleh perusahaan dan juga terhadap bagaimana pihak luar seperti investor dan pemegang saham dalam melihat kondisi perusahaan. Maka dari itu, proses penghapusan aset tetap yang akan dilakukan perusahaan harus memiliki prosedur yang jelas dan diawasi dengan ketat.
