"Memori kolektif dan masyarakat sama-sama bersifat dinamis. Berbeda dengan sejarah yang dibentuk secara kronologis dan memiliki akhir, memori kolektif berkembang terus-menerus tergantung dengan situasi yang terjadi di masyarakat. Kedinamisannya turut membentuk identitas masyarakat itu sendiri. Dengan menggunakan konsep pengukuhan identitas dari Jan dan Aleida Assmann, film Груз 200 mencoba merekonstruksi identitas Uni Soviet menjadi tiga kelas sosial (1) kelas aparatur negara; (2) kelas inteligensia; (3) kelas marginal untuk memunculkan narasi-narasi yang heterogen dalam memori identitas nasional Rusia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kognisi Balabanov dalam menyampaikan narasi baru melalui film secara tidak langsung merupakan upaya konsolidasi sinema kontemporer dengan memori kolektif untuk terus memperbaharui pengetahuan dan referensi tentang masa lalu. Ini mengungkapkan fakta bahwa memori kolektif tidak hanya terbatas pada representasi masa lalu saja, tetapi juga mendukung koalisi komunitas dan situasi politiknya untuk merangkul suara-suara minoritas sebagai bentuk kritik populis kepada pemerintah saat ini.

Collective memory and society are dynamics. Unlike history whose paths are shaped chronologically and has its ending, collective memory evolves perpetually in the determination on the current state of the society itself. Its dynamic contributes to sculpt the society’s identity. By employing Jan and Aleida Assmann’s concretion of identity concept, Груз 200 tries to reconstruct the identity of the Soviet Union into three social classes (1) state apparatus class; (2) intelligence class; (3) marginal class as they conducive to emerge the heterogeneous narrations in the Russian national memory identity. It shows that Balabanov’s cognition to convey new narratives through film is indirectly an attempt to consolidate contemporary cinema with collective memory in order to continuously renew knowledge and references about the past as well. This bares the fact that collective memory is not limited to the representations of the past, but also supports the community coalitions and their political situation to embrace minority voices as a form of populist criticism to the current government."
