Skripsi ini membahas mengenai peranan persepsi ruang yang diterima oleh manusia dalam menonton sebuah film horor. Membahas rasa takut dan suspense yang hadir lewat set desain dan hubungannya dengan narasi yang dibawa oleh film horor, penulisan akan berfokus pada kehadiran persepsi ruang yang tertanam secara sadar atau tertanam pada alam bawah sadar manusia. Menggunakan tiga film horor sebagai studi kasus; Suspiria (1977), The Shining (1980), dan Hereditary (2018). Analisis dilakukan dengan melihat keterhubungan antara pembangunan cerita dan narasi dengan key scene pada film tersebut dan menarik kesimpulan lewat kesamaan karakteristik ketiga film untuk menemukan elemen mendasar yang dapat membangun rasa takut lewat latar. ......This thesis discusses the role of space perception that can be perceived by humans during the horror movie watching activity. Explain the feelings of fear and suspense through a movie’s set design and the connections between horror movie narration, the thesis will be focusing on the presence of space perception in a state of conscious or subconscious. Using three horror movies as a study case; Suspiria (1977), The Shining (1980), and Hereditary (2018). Analyzing through the relations of building the story of narration on a key scene of the movie and conclude the thesis from the similar characteristics of the three movies to find basic elements that can build a fear through the background sets.
