This study focuses on the development of the use of grammatical cohesion devices on preschool childrens narratives. Participants in this study were children aged 3-6 years (N = 60) who live in the Greater Jakarta area and use the Indonesian language as the first language. This study uses production elicitation tasks adapted from Crain and Thornton (2004) with a wordless picture book as an instrument. The analysis of this study is the use of grammatical cohesion tools (references, ellipsis, substitutions, and conjunctions) of preschool children when they were telling the story. The data were also analyzed statistically. The results show a tendency of increase use of references, ellipsis, and conjunction as with the older children. However, the trend was not statistically significant. In this study, there are some significant correlations: references and ellipsis, references and substitutions, and ellipsis and substitution.
