"Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami identitas kolektif virtual dalam gaming community of practice klub sepak bola virtual “Santuy VFC” dan perannya dalam menjaga keutuhan tim. Salah satu karakteristik identitas virtual adalah konstruksinya melalui jaringan yang bersifat anonim. Dalam dunia eSports, identitas kolektif virtual berperan penting, dimana tim eSports yang memiliki tujuan dan minat bersama, relasi antar anggota, serta praktik-praktik bersama, tidak terlepas dari peran identitas kolektif virtual. Oleh karena itu, penelitian berfokus pada identitas kolektif virtual yang ada pada gaming community of practice serta bagaimana perannya dalam memupuk keutuhan anggota tim. Penelitian ini memiliki paradigma konstruktivis dengan pendekatan kualitatif yang menggunakan metode etnografi virtual. Pengumpulan data penelitian menggunakan metode observasi partisipasi, focus-group discussion, serta wawancara mendalam dengan melibatkan lima informan penelitian. Penelitian menemukan bahwa persamaan latar belakang anggota tim sebagai bapak-bapak yang aktif bekerja dan telah berkeluarga dengan minat terhadap sepak bola dan gemar bertukar konten “dewasa” yang mengisi interaksi antar pemain berperan dalam konstruksi identitas kolektif virtual tim eSports. Kemudian, kebiasaan untuk bernyanyi, yel-yel dan jersey tim, serta asosiasi pesepakbola yang disematkan kepada anggota tim menumbuhkan rasa keanggotaan. Melalui proses tersebut, terbentuk identitas kolektif virtual tim eSports sebagai komunitas dalam interaksinya bernuansa maskulin.

The aim of this research is to understand virtual collective identity in the gaming community of practice of the virtual football club "Santuy VFC" and its role in maintaining integrity. One of the characteristics of virtual identity is its construction through an anonymous network. In the world of eSports, virtual collective identity plays an important role, where shared goals and interests, relationships between members, and shared practices, cannot be separated from the role of virtual collective identity. Therefore, the research focuses on the virtual collective identity that exists in the gaming community of practice and how it plays a role in fostering the integrity of team members. This research has a constructivist paradigm with a qualitative approach using virtual ethnographic methods. Research data collection used participant observation methods, focus-group discussions, and in-depth interviews involving five research informants. The research found that the similarity of the team members' backgrounds as fathers who are actively working and have families with an interest in football and a hobby of exchanging "adult" content that fills interactions between players plays a role in the construction of the eSports team's virtual collective identity. Then, the habit of singing, chants and team jerseys, as well as footballer associations attached to team members foster a sense of membership. Through this process, a virtual collective identity of the eSports team is formed as a community whose interactions have a masculine nuance."
