Abstrak :
Kulit jeruk Medan (Citrus nobilis) mengandung senyawa citronellol yang memiliki potensi sebagai pengusir nyamuk. Anti nyamuk yang menggunakan zat aktif sintesis memiliki efek berbahaya bagi tubuh sehingga pemakaian anti nyamuk berbahan alam merupakan salah satu pilihan yang aman dan ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek minyak citronellol dari kulit jeruk Medan dalam sediaan losio sebagai repelan. Losio dibuat dengan variasi konsentrasi minyak citronellol, yaitu 0,0%; 10,0%; 12,5%; dan 15,0%. Losio yang terbentuk kemudian diuij stabilitas fisiknya dengan menyimpan losio pada tiga suhu yang berbeda (suhu rendah 4oC, suhu kamar 27oC, dan suhu tinggi 40OC), cycling test dan uji sentrifugasi. Kemudian dilakukan uji aktivitas repelan sediaan losio anti nyamuk mengandung minyak citronellol dengan memasukkan lengan kontrol dan lengan perlakuan yang telah dioleskan losio ke dalam kurungan penguji yang berisi 20 nyamuk. Hasil uji stabilitas menunjukkan sediaan losio anti nyamuk mengandung minyak citronellol adalah stabil. Hasil uji aktivitas repelan menunjukkan bahwa sediaan losio anti nyamuk mengandung minyak citronellol memiliki daya proteksi terhadap nyamuk. Formula 4 dengan konsentrasi minyak citronellol sebesar 15% memberikan daya proteksi yang lebih baik terhadap nyamuk.

Medan orange (Citrus nobilis) peel containing citronellol has potential as a mosquito repellent. Mosquito repellent which uses synthetic active substances has harmful effects to the body so that the use of natural mosquito repellent is one option that is safe and environmentally friendly. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of citronellol oil from orange peel in lotion as repellent. Lotion was made with citronellol oil concentration variations, they are 0.0%; 10.0%; 12.5%; and 15.0%. These lotions were physically stability tested by storing lotion at three different temperatures (low temperature 4° C, room temperature 27oC, and high temperature 40oC), cycling test and centrifugation test. Then the mosquito repellent lotion contains citronellol oil were tested as repellent by entering the control arm and treatment arm which had applied lotion to the test cage containing 20 mosquitoes. The test result of physic stability for mosquito repellent lotion containing citronellol oil shown that the lotion is physically stable. The repellent activity test result shown that the mosquito repellent lotion containing citronellol oil has protection effect against mosquitoes. Formula 4 with 15% concentration of citronellol oil provided better protection effect against mosquitoes.
