"ABSTRAKBanyaknya perokok yang tidak civil dengan memilih untuk merokok di tempat yang tidak seharusnya dan membiarkan asap rokoknya terhirup oleh para perokok pasif, penelitian ini pun dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah Empati memiliki hubungan positif yang signifikan dengan Respect terhadap orang lain pada perokok. Penelitian ini menggunakan alat ukur Basic Empathy Scale (BES) oleh Jolliffe & Farrington (2006) yang telah diadaptasi ke Bahasa Indonesia untuk mengukur empati dan alat ukur Respect oleh Ridwan (2011) untuk mengukur Respect yang berfokus pada Respect terhadap orang lain. Responden berjumlah 171 orang yang merupakan seorang mahasiswa perokok aktif yang memiliki rentang usia 17 hingga 24 tahun. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah adanya hubungan positif yang signifikan antara empati dengan respect terhadap orang lain sebagai bentuk civility pada mahasiswa perokok aktif.

ABSTRACTUpholding the statement that most of active smokers aren‟t being civil in society by smoking in inappropriate places and let the fumes inhaled by passive smokers, thus the reason why this research is based on. This research is commenced on the basic purpose to find if the smoker‟s empathy is connected with respect towards others. This research used Basic Empathy Scale (BES) by Jolliffe and Farrington (2006) that has adapted to Indonesian language to measure empathy factors, and used Ridwan‟s (2011) measuring scale to measure respect towards others. Regardless the many aspects in Ridwan‟s measuring scale, that research only use the respect towards others dimension. The respondent of this research aggragate 171 subjects, and are college students who‟s also an active smoker, with age ranging from 17 to 24 years old. The research found that there‟s a significant correlation between respect towards others and civil behavior on active smokers.;;"
