"Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat perkembangan moralitas tokoh Shuhei pada film Mother (2020). Penulis menggunakan teori perkembangan psikoseksual (kompleks oedipus) dan teori psikoanalisis (id, ego, superego) yang dikemukakan oleh Sigmund Freud. Penelitian berargumen bahwa terdapat kaitan antara kompleks oedipus dengan perkembangan moralitas, dimana karakter Shuhei cenderung berperilaku menyimpang ketika dikuasai kompleks oedipus id (hasrat) untuk selalu menuruti perintah Akiko (ibunya) demi memperoleh cintanya. Namun, ketika kompleks oedipusnya terepresi, superego (moralitas) dalam diri Shuhei mulai berkembang.

This research aims to see the morality development of the character Shuhei in the film Mother (2020). The researcher use theory of psychosexual development (oedipus complex) and the psychoanalytic theory (id, ego, superego) proposed by Sigmund Freud. The research argues that there is a relation between oedipus complex and morality development, where Shuhei's character tends to behave deviantly when controlled by id's oedipus complex (desire) to always obey Akiko's (mother) orders to gain her love. However, when his oedipus complex was repressed, his superego (morality) also developed."
