"Film Curse of the Golden Flower adalah film karya Zhang Yimou yang merupakan salah satu sutradara dari Generasi Kelima. Film ini dirilis pada tahun 2007 dan mengambil latar waktu pada era Dinasti Tang. Film Curse of the Golden Flower menceritakan tentang usaha Kaisar dalam mempertahankan kestabilan sistem pemerintahan di dalam istana karena dampak dari konflik yang muncul, seperti rencana pemberontakan Permaisuri, ketidakpatuhan Permaisuri pada Kaisar dan hubungan terlarang antara Permaisuri dengan anak tirinya. Kaisar menggunakan “obat” untuk menyembuhkan segala permasalahan yang terjadi di dalam Istana agar sistem pemerintahan tetap stabil. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami makna “obat” di dalam film Curse of the Golden Flower melalui deskripsi adegan dan dialog percakapan antara Kaisar dengan Permaisuri, tabib kerajaan dan putra-putranya. Peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif, mengumpulkan data-data yang berkaitan dengan penelitian dan menganalisis data tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa “obat” yang seharusnya dapat menyembuhkan, justru di sisi lain juga menjadi racun untuk menghancurkan permasalahan rumit yang mengganggu stabilitas istana.......The film Curse of the Golden Flower is a film by Zhang Yimou who is one of the directors from Fifth Generation. This film was released in 2007 and set in the Tang Dynasty era. The film Curse of the Golden Flower tells the story of the Emperor's efforts to maintain the stability of the government system in the palace due to the impact of the conflict that across, such as the plan for the Empress's rebellion, the Empress's disobedience to the Emperor and the forbidden relationship between the Empress and her stepson. The Emperor use "medicine" to cure all the problems that occurre in the palace so the government system still stable. This research aims to understand the meaning of "medicine" in the film Curse of the Golden Flower through scene descriptions and dialogues between the Emperors and the Empress, traditional healers and their sons. Qualitative research through collected data that related to this research and analyzed the data methods is used in this research. The research result showed the "medicine" that was supposed to heal, on the other side, also became poison to destroy complex problems that disrupt the stability of the palace."
