"Pelaku hip-hop secara global memandang otentisitas sebagai sebuah elemen pokok dari kebudayaan hip-hop. Penyebaran kebudayaan hip-hop secara global memicu kelahiran situs-situs musik hip-hop lokal. Kehadiran situs-situs musik hip-hop lokal membuat cakrawala pemaknaan musik hip-hop ikut terlokalisasi. Beberapa penelitian terdahulu memandang bahwa lokalisasi cakrawala pemaknaan akan melahirkan pemaknaan lokal terhadap otentisitas musik hip-hop. Maka dari itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji bagaimana musisi rap di Indonesia mengonstruksi otentisitas musik hip-hop, sesuai dengan konteks lokal. Penelitian fenomenologi ini mengadaptasi metode pengumpulan data dari studi-studi grounded theory. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa musisi rap di Indonesia mengonstruksi identitas lokal melalui musik rap. Dalam proses konstruksi tersebut, musisi rap lokal menggunakan kembali, menolak, memodifikasi, dan membentuk ulang berbagai aspek musik rap global. Musisi rap lokal memaknai otentisitas hip-hop dengan perspektif lokal. Maka, musisi rap lokal mengonstruksi otentisitas dengan menampilkan identitas lokal dalam praktik-praktik musik rap. ......This study focuses on the authenticity construction of hip-hop music in Indonesia. Globally, hip-hop artists consider authenticity as an essential element of the Hip-hop Culture(s). The global spread of hip-hop cultures engenders the development of local hip-hop music scenes. Therefore, the horizons of significance of hip-hop music is being localized. Previous studies have shown that the localization of horizons of significance eventually leads to the construction of local definitions of hip-hop authenticity. This phenomenological study aims to explore how local rappers construct the authenticity of hip-hop music in Indonesia. This research adapts the data collection methods being used in grounded theory studies. This study discovers that local rappers utilize rap music to fashion their local identities. Consequently, local rappers reuse, reject, modify, and reconstruct the practices and cultural forms of global rap music. Indonesian rappers perceive the meaning of hip-hop authenticity through local perspective. Hence, local rappers construct hip-hop authenticity by expressing their local identities through the practices and cultural forms of hip-hop music. "
