"Abstract. This article analyses the observation of science & technology (Iptek) and innovation policies in activities of science and technological research, development, and implementation. Science & technology and innovation policies become an important study subject since in some countries this field gives positive effect to competitiveness of a nation. Qualitative approach was selected in studying science & technology and innovation policy in Indonesia since its appropriation with the objective of portraying national policy in science & technology and innovation. Method employed was content analysis qualitative with framing analysis, which in this study refers to concept of science & technological research, development, and implementation. The results of this study shows that national policy of Indonesia during 2000-2011 period were less supportive to development, research, diffusion, and implementation of technology in regions, proven by evidence that there was only few policies supporting the system implementation of science & technological research, development, and implementation in Indonesia.

"The purification of recombinant proteins is an important stage in biopharmaceutical research. A commonly used technique is immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC). One of the main advantages of this type of chromatography is that the column can easily be regenerated for subsequent purification work. The mechanism of IMAC is based on bonding between metal ions immobilized on a matrix with a specific amino acid. Because of the strong interactions of the electron donor group on the imidazole ring, histidine is often used in the IMAC purification system. Two types of commercial IMAC resin use a nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA) matrix: a nickel-based (Ni-NTA) and cobalt-based (Co-NTA), better known as TALON. This study was aim to investigate the effect of the metal ions Ni2+ and Co2+ to purify recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO) expressed in yeast system Pichia pastoris. The results indicated that both Ni-NTA and Co-TALON gave almost the same level of protein purity; however, Ni-NTA has a higher binding affinity than Co-TALON might be due to the higher stability complex of Ni+. The average amount of protein bound by Ni-NTA and Co-TALON was 183.5 and 38.7 μg/mL, respectively."

"Background: Currently available molecular method to detect HER2I655V polymorphism such as PCR-RFLP is
hampered by costly experimental method and post-PCR treatment requirment that make this technique is not meeting
for high-throughput analysis purpose. In this study we developed a accurate, simple, low cost and rapid test to detect
polymorphism at HER2 gene using SBR Green I based-melting curve method. Methods: Two forward allele-specific
primers and one common reverse primer were used then these primers were tested to discriminate known genotypes of
genomic templates (GG type or AA type) and genomic samples retrieved from breast cancer patients. Results: Melting
curve analysis derived from SYBR Green I-based allele-specific PCR with defined primers concentration and anneling
temperature at 54.3 °C showed good discrimination level of Tm peaks in which GG genotype melted at 89 °C slightly
higher than AA genotype which melted at 86 °C, while AG genotype harbored both of homozygous Tm characteristics.
Conclusions: This preliminary result will be as basic for further large-scale typing of HER2I655V polymorphism."
