Abstrak :
This article examines factory outlet as a cultural phenomenon in Indonesia. It specifically focuses in the shift in FO meanings. Through observation, bibliographic study and critical critique, it is shown that FO has been perceived differently from a place to get "branded products" for the lower middle class in order to increase their social status to a shopping heaven for the upper class.

Artikel ini mempertanyakan sejauh mana masyarakat Belanda Progresif di bidang norma banhasa, kesusahan, dan gender. Dinilai dengan diskusi tentang norma bahasa di kamus Van dale dan resepsi terhadap kamus tersebut di Indonesia serta pandangan terhadap penulis wanita dan statusnya dalam masyarakat Belanda. Artikel ini berkesimpulan bahwa kebudayaan Belanda tidaklah seprogresif yang dibayangkan orang. Dalam hal gender, pandangan terhadap status dan kemampuan perempuan yang agak miring mungkin ini disebabkan oleh perempuan itu sendiri. Writing and documentation involve a process of selection and arrangement. Archives; therefore, is a system which organize the documentation of writings, documents and notes. Archives become a structure that organizes memories because of their close ties with the past. Archieves legitimize and control the history of mankind. This article seeks to discuss how archieve system can reconstruct or constructs history of a nation and the relationship between power and archieve system. Abstrak :
This study discusses the relationship between indirect speech act and politeness in directive speech act. To get the data, questioners with personal indormastion of respondents and nine directive speech acts which must be assessed by these Indonesian speakers in Jakarta are employed. The analysis shows that there is a positive correlation between the indiirectness of a dierctive speech act and the degree of politeness. The more indirect a directive speech act, the more polite it is. Neverthless, the correlation is not absolute. There are other parameters that determine the degree of politeness such as intonation, choice of words, and cultural values of the speakers.

Abstrak :
This article explores the relationship between literature and the history of japanese society. The study shows that many literary works reflect the dynamics of culture, economics, ideology, and thoughts in Japanese Society. Based on that, the writer believes that thse literary works are useful to understand the spirit of age (Zeitgeist) in japanese history. The writer also deals with the issues of globalism which play important part in Japanese literary discourse, particularly in multiculturalism theme.

Abstrak :
Nation as a cultural-psychological phenomenon is best understood in terms of how a sense of nationhood operates in order to construct social identities or a social imagination about the modern nation-state (Anderson 1983). The forging of nationalism as a national identity cannot be seen in isolation ofthe rise of modernization and industrialization (Gellner 1987). Although the nation appears to be a modern phenomenon, Smith (1991) stresses that every nation preserves its own past historical artefacts, narratives, and symbols for present-day needs. This model needs to be elaborated further as it is insufficient to understand how a sense of nationhood operates among borderlanders of a state. This paper relates the story of Kalimantan?s Iban borderlanders who are officially registered as Indonesian subjects but live on the dividing line between two countries. This makes them appear to be ambiguous subjects who are torn between the two different historical timelines of British and Dutch colonial history (as well as postcolonial Malaysian-Indonesian history). They are marginalized in every aspect and are the forgotten subjects in the history of the broader picture of Indonesia?s so-called nationalism project. The explanation is twofold. The first explains how identity is constructed as multi-layered historical narratives involving local and national cultures, and second, how transnational borderlanders give meaning to nation as narrative. The primary data for this article were collected in 2002 through a series of interviews in the village of Benua Sadap, an Iban settlement on the Batang Kanyau River, close to the West Kalimantan (Indonesia) and Sarawak (Malaysia) borderline.

ABSTRACT
In discussions on exchange, money is often seen as a medium of exchange and a universal equivalent in the circulation of commodities, as well as an object in gift exchange. Yet, in the case of the management of copra that we researched on the island of Seram, money becomes a factor in shaping a dynamic of gift continuity and transformation in the realm of the copra economy (in this context of masohi custom). It is money that promotes both the use and erosion of masohi custom. Masohi is a tradition of community work on the island of Seram and is based on non-capitalist social relations and the principal of reciprocal exchange. This article seeks to describe how money,originally a capitalist medium, serves to simultaneously preserve and transform masohi custom, which, at its essence, is a non-capitalist institution.

Kebijakan zero accident merupakan program prioritas TNI AU untuk mengurangi kecelakaan(accident)dan insiden (incident) dalam operasional pesawat TNI AU. Implementasi kebijakan dapat menekan jumlah kecelakaan maupun insiden yang dapat menimbulkan korban jiwa dan Alutsista TNI AU. Namun demikian, implementasi kebijakan masih dilakukan secara manual sehingga belum dapat diwujudkan interoperability dalam implementasi kebijakan tersebut. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan interoperability business process dilakukan analisis terhadap implementasi kebijakan zero accident. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian kualitatif dengan sumber data primer melalui narasumber terpilih (purposive sampling). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi kebijakan dengan menggunakan sistem yang interoperability dalam kebijakan zero accident belum dilakukan oleh sub organisasi TNI AU. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penggunaan aplikasi agar dapat mewujudkan interoperability dalam pelaksanaan kebijakan zero accident.
