"ABSTRAKSkripsi ini membahas tentang penerapan konsep learning commons di Perpustakaan Universitas Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengevaluasi tata ruang gedung Perpustakaan Universitas Indonesia, dikaitkan dengan fungsinya sebagai learning commons. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif, serta menerapkan purposive sampling dalam menentukan sampel. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang didapat dilapangan menunjukan bahwa aspek-aspek learning commons yang terdapat di Perpustakaan UI diterapkan belum serius dalam menunjang kebutuhan pengguna dengan didukung perkembangan teknologi yang mudah digunakan serta fasilitas penunjang pembelajaran interaktif sesuai dengan konsep learning commons, dikarenakan ada perbedaan konsep yang diaplikasikan.

ABSTRACTThis study aimed to determine whetherThis thesis discusses about the application of the concept of learning commons in the Library of University of Indonesia. The purpose of this study to evaluate the spatial in the Library of University of Indonesia s building, linked to its function as a learning commons. The method used in this research is quantitative method, and applying the purposive sampling to determine the sample. Based on the results obtained in the field shows that aspects of learning commons contained in the Library of University of Indonesia s applied is not serious in supporting the needs of users with supported development of technology that is easy to use and supporting facilities, interactive learning in accordance with the concept of learning commons, because there are differences in the concept to be applied."

"Fungsi Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi melekat pada tujuan serta visi misi lembaga Perguruan Tinggi yang menaunginya. Sebagai fasilitas yang dibuat untuk melayani pengunjung khususnya mahasiswa, Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi patut untuk mengetahui kebutuhan mahasiswa atas penggunaannya. Pada tesis ini penelitian dilakukan untuk mendapatkan gambaran perilaku pengunjung yang termasuk dalam kategori Generasi Z dalam menggunakan Perpustakaan yang mempengaruhi fungsi ruang Perpustakaan berdasarkan teori representational space Lefebvre. Penelitian dilakukan di sebuah Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi Swasta di Jakarta bernama ESQ Business School. Metode Penelitian Kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus diterapkan pada penelitian ini. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik behavioral observation yang didukung dengan wawancara dan penelusuran dokumen. Hasil dari penelitian ditemukan bahwa ruang diskusi menjadi ruang utama yang dikunjungi mahasiswa ESQ Business School. Hal ini nampak dari hasil observasi perilaku mahasiswa ESQ Business School. Kecenderungan mahasiswa menggunakan ruang diskusi karena mereka mengembangkan fungsi Perpustakaan berdasarkan pengalaman keseharian sesuai dengan konsep representational space dalam teori produksi ruang.

The function of the University/College Library is attached to the goals and vision and mission of the higher education institution that houses them. As a facility designed to serve visitors, especially students, the University/College Library should know the needs of students for its use. In this thesis, the research was conducted to get an overview of visitor behavior in the Generation Z category in using the library which affects the function of the library space based on Lefebvre's representational space theory. The research was conducted at a Private College Library in Jakarta called ESQ Business School. Qualitative Research Methods with a case study approach were applied to this research. The data collection method was carried out by using behavioral observation techniques which were supported by interviews and document searches. The results of the study found that the discussion room was the main room visited by ESQ Business School students. This can be seen from the observations of the behavior of ESQ Business School students. Students tend to use discussion rooms because they develop library functions based on daily experiences according to the concept of representational space in space production theory."
