ABSTRACT
This study discusses a model to predict the potential demand for sacrificial animals through mathematical and household approach. The model is constructed from some theories. Firstly, Marshallian demand function. Secondly, Islamic theory of consumer behavior which mentions about the importance of zakat as part of individuals expenditure and the purpose of consumption which is to fulfill the need in this world and the hereafter. This study also considers the factors influencing philanthropic activity. The main variables used in constructing the model is the income allocation for sacrifice, which attained by deducting households income with consumption, zakat and saving, the price level of sacrificial animals, the number of Moslem households and religiosity. The result show if there is positive impact of demand for sacrificial animal with the growth of national income and for the livestock subsector as the supplier of the sacrificial animals. But, the result also shows that there is a huge gap between the realization of animal sacrifice and its potential in which the realization is only 3 to 6 percentage of the potential. The cause of this situation will be discussed in this study."

Kata Kunci: Industri Peternakan, House of Risk HOR, Manajemen Risiko Rantai Pasok.

The supply chain of livestock industry has more risk than manufacturing industry because of its bulky and perishable products. This makes the importance of risk management in the supply chain of livestock industry. In this research, case studies were conducted at PT Widodo Makmur Perkasa WMP, which is a big cattle livestock in West Java.
This study aims to study the risks in the supply chain by identifying and evaluating risks and designing for risk mitigation that may arise in supply chain of livestock industry.
The method used in this research is House of Risk HOR. HOR is divided into two phases, the first phase is the identification and evaluation of risk and the second phase is the design of risk mitigation. From the research that has been done, identification stage found 28 types of risk events and 22 risk agents.
Results of HOR phase 1 shown 11 risk agents that covering 80 of total Aggregate Risk Potential ARP. Lastly, the results of HOR phase 2 shown 6 recommendation of mitigation measures based on the largest ARP risk agents.

"This book provides an overview of the state of animal agriculture and present methodologies and proposals to develop policies that result in sustainable and profitable animal production that will protect human and environmental health, enhance livelihood of smallholders and meet consumer needs. The book combines lessons of the past, factual foundation to understand the present, analytical tools to design and improve policies, case studies that provide both empirical grounding and applications of some of the strategies suggested in this book, and finally, a proposal for the way forward. The book is divided into five parts. The first section of the book will provide an analysis of the evolution of animal agriculture in the context of the development of farming systems over the years. The second part of the book will provide an overview of some of the major strands of literature on the economics and health of animal agriculture. The third and fourth sections of the book emphasize an important case study, avian influenza with applications in Southeast Asia and Africa. Finally, the book summarizes the state of knowledge and current trajectory of animal agriculture and provides policy recommendations to both control animal disease and support research that would lead to prosperous, sustainable animal agriculture in the future. This volume contains contributions from leading researchers in agricultural economics environmental economics, veterinary science, and natural resource management and will be of interest to academics and students in those fields as well as policy-makers in government or international organizations that focus on animal agriculture, health and the environment."

"This book focuses on the basis of the animal-environment interactions and the impact of human activities on the type and magnitude of these interactions. In this context, the issue of sustainability of livestock production is evaluated considering economic, social and environmental aspects. This book contributes to upgrade the state of the art in Mediterranean conditions, providing indicators and procedures of application across a wide range of systems, and hence of interest for researchers, students and professionals concerned with livestock production and the environment."

"The book looks at two main issues, firstly, it gives an updated review on the main innovations that significantly changed the activities of livestock production in the Mediterranean area in the recent past. Secondly, the focus lies on the extent to which these innovations improve the efficiency, ensure the socio-cultural basis or reduce the environmental impact of livestock systems. "
