"Penelitian mengenai pembentukan indeks subjek untuk sistem katalog berkelas telah dilakukan di Pusat Perpustakaan Pertanian dan Biologi (PUSTAKA), Bogor, pada bulan Januari s/d Pebruari 1989. Tujuannya ialah untuk mengungkapkan kelebihan dan kekurangan indeks subjek yang terbentuk dengan prosedur berangkai dan untuk memantapkan penggunaan AGROVOC di PUSTAKA. Data diperoleh dengan jalan pengamatan langsung di lokasi; uji coba pembentukan indeks subjek dengan prosedur berangkai dan AGROVOC; dan studi literatur. Hasilnya menun jukkan bahwa pembentukan indeks subyek melalui prosedur berangkai memerlukan kartu lebih banyak dan waktu yang lebih lama; jumlah subyek spesifik yang dihasilkan AGROVOC lebih banyak, namun dengan indeks subyek yang dibentuk berdasarkan AGROVOC, tidak memungkinkan untuk melakukan penelusuran generik dan sinonim."
