ABSTRAKIdiom merupakan salah satu hal yang dipelajari dalam studi bahasa Mandarin sebagai bahasa kedua pada tingkat
menengah. Namun, penerkaan makna idiom tergolong tidak mudah karena idiom tidak dapat diterjemahkan
secara harfiah. Meski demikan, pola struktural yang terkandung di dalam idiom dapat memudahkan
pemaknaannya. Pembahasan dalam artikel jurnal ini fokus pada dua pertanyaan, yaitu 1) bagaimana pola
struktural pada idiom bahasa Mandarin, dan 2) bagaimana cara penerkaan makna idiom bahasa Mandarin sesuai
dengan pola struktural yang membentuknya, sehingga artikel jurnal ini memiliki dua tujuan, yaitu 1) mengetahui
jenis pola struktural yang terkandung dalam suatu idiom, dan 2) menjelaskan cara penerkaan makna idiom
bahasa Mandarin sesuai dengan pola struktural yang membentuknya. Idiom yang digunakan sebagai data adalah
idiom yang terdapat dalam daftar kosakata pada buku 汉语教程第三册（上）Hànyǔ Jiàochéng Dì Sān Cè
(Shàng) sebanyak dua belas buah. Hasil analisis menunjukkan dari dua belas idom terdapat dua idiom berpola
ABAB, satu idiom berpola AABB, satu idiom berpola AABb, tujuh idiom berpola AaBb, dan satu idiom yang
belum diketahui polanya. Melalui pola struktural inilah makna idiom dapat diketahui. Penulis berharap hasil dan
pembahasan artikel jurnal ini dapat memudahkan pemahaman cara pemaknaan idiom bagi pembelajar bahasa
Mandarin sebagai bahasa kedua pada umumnya, dan mahasiswa Program Studi Cina FIB UI pada khususnya.

idiom meaning is not easy as idioms can not be translated literally. However, the structural pattern that
contained in the idiom can make the idiom can be easier translated. There are four types of structural patterns in
the idiom, ie ABAB, AABB, AABB, and AaBb. The discussion in this journal article focuses on two questions:
1) how the structural pattern of the Chinese idiom, and 2) how to guess Chinese idiom meaning in accordance
with the structural pattern is formed, so that the journal article has two purposes: 1) to know the type of
structural pattern in an idiom, and 2) explain how to guess Chinese idiom meaning in accordance with the
structural pattern. Idiom that used as the data is the idiom that is contained in the vocabulary list in 汉语教程第
三册 (上) Hànyǔ Jiaocheng in San Ce (Shang). Through literature study, the authors get twelve idioms with two
ABAB pattern?s idioms, one AABB pattern?s idiom, one AABB pattern?s, seven AaBb pattern?s idiom, and one
unknown pattern?s idiom. Through its structural pattern, the meaning of the idiom can be known. The authors
hope the results and discussion of this journal articles may facilitate the understanding of how to guess the
