Abstrak :
The creation of the Euro-Mediteranean Free Trade Area constitutes a big opportunity for Mediterranean third countries to integrate in the international economy. The big Euro-Mediterranean market that will unfold wil not only intensify trade and investment flows into the Southern countries of the Mediterranean, but will also, as in all regional economic integration processes, signify a restructring of the investments already made. This article studies the strategies of Spanish companies with industrial investments in Morocco in the light of the creation of the Euro-Mediterranean area, and the repercussions these strategies may have on employment.

Abstrak :
Corporate University (CorpU) mulai menjadi wacana penting dalam pengembangan Aparatur Sipil Negara (ASN) di Indonesia sejak tahun 2014, walau begitu masih sedikit penelitian empiris mengenai tipe organisasi ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi faktor pendorong dan penghambat kesuksesan pelaksanaan CorpU di instansi pemerintah di Indonesia. Dengan menerapkan pendekatan tinjauan literatur, data dikumpulkan dari 21 artikel ilmiah penerapan CorpU di Indonesia, yakni dikumpulkan dari lembaga yang telah atau sedang menerapkan CorpU di Indonesia. Literatur kemudian dianalisis secara kualitatif untuk menemukan tema terkait faktor pendorong dan penghambat implementasi CorpU. Hasil menunjukkan adanya sejumlah faktor pendorong dan penghambat pelaksanaan CorpU di lembaga pemerintahan di Indonesia. Faktor pendorong tersebut, di antaranya (a) ketersediaan SDM; (b) tolok ukur; (c) pengalaman dalam blended learning; (d) penyemangat institusional, dan (e) dukungan manajemen puncak. Sementara itu, terdapat lima faktor penghambat terpenting adalah (a) lemahnya jaringan dan kemitraan; (b) lemahnya manajemen pengetahuan; (c) kurangnya inovasi; (d) ketakutan akan perubahan, dan (e) tanggung jawab administratif yang tidak jelas. Hasil penelitian ini dapat membantu lembaga pemerintahan untuk mengembangkan CorpU sebagai strategi pengembangan SDM di lembaga, guna beradaptasi dengan pengetahuan yang berkembang cepat dan kebutuhan SDM yang dimiliki. Selain itu saran untuk penelitian selanjutnya diberikan dalam aspek metodologis, terkait pentingnya penelitian kuantitatif serta faktor-faktor yang berdampak terhadap efektivitas dan efisiensi CorpU.

Rapid urbanisation, inequalities in income and service levels within and between communities, and population and economic decline are challenging the viability of rural communities worldwide. Achieving healthy and viable rural communities in the face of rapidly changing social, ecological and economic conditions is a declared global priority. As a result, governments all over the world, in both developed and developing countries, are now prioritizing rural and regional development through policies and programs aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of people living in rural regions. In recognition of the important roles that research can play in rural development, a range of systematic literature reviews have rightly examined key priorities in rural development including education, gender, economic development (especially agriculture), and health and nutrition (see Department for International Development [DFID], 2011). However, none of these works has systematically examined the extent to which rural development as a field of research is progressing towards facilitating sustainable change. This book evaluates trends in rural development research across the five continental regions of the world. Specifically, it assesses the total publication output relating to rural development, the types of publications, their quality and impact over the last three decades. Additionally, it evaluates the continental origins of the publications as well as the extent to which such publications engage with issues of sustainability. The aim is to determine whether the rural development field is growing in a manner that reflects research and policy priorities and broader social trends such as sustainability. Development policy makers, practitioners, those teaching research methods and systematic literature reviews to undergraduate and graduate students, and researchers in general will find the book both topical and highly relevant.

Buku karya Britha Mikkelsen ini dapat dibaca sebagai mansukan alternatif mengenai metode penelitian model apa yang kiranya memadai dan dapat dipercaya dalam meneropong realitas masyarakat sedekat mungkin, yang pada gilirannya memberi arah pada kegiatan pembangunan masyarakat serta upaya-upaya pemberdayaannya secara tepat dan guna sasaran.Dari pengalaman beberapa dasawarsa terakhir menjadi nyatalah bahwa pendekatan kebijakan dari atas ke bawah (top-down policy) tidak selalu menggembirakan, penuh kebocoran, dan bias.Metode Penelitian Partisipatoris, yang merupakan konsep alternatif itu, kini makin menemukan momentumnya

ABSTRAK Tesis ini menganalisis pengaruh pengeluaran untuk penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D expenditure) terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi di negara ASEAN5. Penelitian pada tesis ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode ekonometri panel data dengan Fixed Effect Model (FEM). Hasil penelitian dari tesis ini, yaitu pengeluaran untuk penelitian dan pengembangan di negara ASEAN5 berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi negara-negara tersebut dengan time-lag satu tahun. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tesis ini, maka rekomendasi kebijakan yang dihasilkan untuk negara ASEAN5 adalah kebijakan untuk meningkatkan jumlah pengeluaran untuk penelitian dan pengembangan guna mendorong pertumbuhan ekonomi dalam jangka panjang.

ABSTRACT This thesis analyzes the impact of research and development expenditure on economic growth in the ASEAN5. The research on this thesis is a quantitative study with econometric methods of panel data with Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The research result of this thesis, namely R&D expenditure in the ASEAN5 has positive and significant effect on economic growth in these countries with one year time-lag. Based on the results of this thesis, the policy recommendation that will be generated for ASEAN5 is a policy to increase the amount of research and development expenditure to boost economic growth in the long term.

Researchers have started focusing their research on alternative fuels. During the last two decades, Dimethyl Ether (DME) has emerged as a new potential fuel to subtitute for oil and its derivatives. Raw materials for DME from sources such as coal, biomass, natural gas and also crude oil are spread all over the world so the interest is growing for using it as an energy source. While the technology for processing raw materials into DME is well established, the technology for DME applications for a wide range of usages is still being developed. The range of DME usage includes for automotive purposes, in industrial sectors, for household applications, and there is even fundamental research to discover more knowledge about DME safety and another technical considerations. Many research activities are now intensively been used to develop the technology for DME application. Some opportunities for discovering more application are also discussed in this paper.
