"This article aims to analyse how to best asserting the strategic role of the Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry (Kemlu) in the World Trade Organization (WTO) negotiations. The analysis is conducted based on the following framework: (i) Defining a set of purpose, relevance, importance, and abjectives; (ii) Problem identification; (iii) Describing and analyzing interrelated issues as well as other relevant matters; and (iv) Concluding assessments, formulating policy options, and providing policy recommendations. Therefore, the article will focus its analysis on the fundamental questions of "why" and "how" should Kemlu's national and strategic role be re-addressed, further directed, and strengthened in the context of the WTO negotiations. The analysis shall also examine the form of Kemlu strategic plans, initiatives, and specific undertakings that should be formulated and adopted in the context of enhancing its roles in the Indonesian Nationals Trade Negotiations Team and in the WTO negotiations."
