...... This paper explores the application of anthropological concepts in the news production process, focusing on emic and etic perspectives. During internship as a television reporter at NET TV, the application of anthropological concepts such as in-depth interviews, direct observation, and the use of source perspectives was adapted to provide richer and more contextual insights in news production. In this context, the emic and etic approaches offer balanced perspectives, enabling newsmakers to understand viewpoints from within a cultural context (emic) and align their interpretations with external perspectives (etic). In the context of news production, the combination of emic-etic approaches can provide a deeper understanding of how cultural values, norms, and social backgrounds influence the selection, presentation, and interpretation of news stories. This method is primarily applied in the magazine news coverage process, particularly in the Fakta Baik segment of the Fakta+62 NET program. However, the application of these concepts is not always ideal; as an intern and reporter, I often face dilemmas in processing coverage data that require balancing idealism with media workflow, considering producers' input, ratings, and public interest. Media that prioritize accuracy, timeliness, and factual reporting become a platform to align emic-etic perspectives with a more agile workflow. This study demonstrates that anthropological perspectives in journalism enrich stories and build bridges of understanding between diverse cultures and communities.

Ingold, Tim, 1948-
Abstrak :
Making creates knowledge, builds environments and transforms lives. Anthropology, archaeology, art and architecture are all ways of making, and all are dedicated to exploring the conditions and potentials of human life. In this exciting book, Tim Ingold ties the four disciplines together in a way that has never been attempted before. In a radical departure from conventional studies that treat art and architecture as compendia of objects for analysis, Ingold proposes an anthropology and archaeology not of but with art and architecture. He advocates a way of thinking through making in which sentient practitioners and active materials continually answer to, or ?correspond?, with one another in the generation of form. Making offers a series of profound reflections on what it means to create things, on materials and form, the meaning of design, landscape perception, animate life, personal knowledge and the work of the hand. It draws on examples and experiments ranging from prehistoric stone tool-making to the building of medieval cathedrals, from round mounds to monuments, from flying kites to winding string, from drawing to writing. The book will appeal to students and practitioners alike, with interests in social and cultural anthropology, archaeology, architecture, art and design, visual studies and material culture.
