"ABSTRAKPenelitian ini berfokus pada keluarga Medici sebagai sebuah keluarga yang menguasai Florence, sebuah kota di Italia selama tahun 1434-1737. Selama masa kekuasaannya muncul pergerakan humanisme yang disebut Renaissance, dan menghasilkan salah satu diplomat terkenal bernama Niccolo Machiavelli. Machiavelli memiliki cara berpolitik yang berbeda dengan kebanyakan orang. Politik inilah yang masih sangat berpengaruh dan diikuti oleh banyak orang hingga zaman modern ini. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori Knowledge/Power oleh Michel Foucault, dan Political Power dari seorang ahli hukum John Locke. Metodologi yang digunakan adalah deskriptif analitis dengan pendekatan multilevel analisis untuk menjawab rumusan masalah. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa, keluarga Medici secara mampu dan berhasil menggunakan dan menguasai pengetahuan sebagai dasar mereka memimpin dan menyusun strategi pertahanan dalam menguasai Florence dalam kurun waktu ratusan tahun. Hasil yang lain adalah, Keluarga Medici sesungguhnya tidak terpengaruh ataupun mengikuti metode berpolitik Machiavelli, tetapi Machiavelli adalah yang terpengaruh dan terinspirasi dari kesuksesan keluarga Medici dalam memimpin sebuah wilayah. Hasil penelitian yang terakhir adalah, Politik Machiavelli pada saat ini intinya masih sama dan masih sering digunakan oleh banyak orang, akan tetapi dengan cara dan batasan-batasan tertentu agar tidak berlebihan dalam menjalankan kekuatan dan kekuasaan. ABSTRACT This project focused on how Medici rsquo s Family ruled over Florence, a City in Italy, durung years 1434 1737. During Medici reign there was an emerged movement based on humanisme called Renaissance, and one amongs many of famous artist and philosopher appeared, there was the one famous diplomat whose name is Niccolo Machiavelli. He has a different political ways of thinking than the others. And this kind of political thinking is still relevant up untill these days. Theories that will be used in this project are, Knowledge Power from postmodernism thinkers Michel Foucault, and a famous political philosopher John Locke with his Theory Political Power. The methodology used in this study is an analytical descriptive with multilevel anaylisis approached to answered the existing problem questions. The first result of the question is, Medici Family is capable to use knowledge as a basis to ruled over Florence, adn used it as a tactical strategy to become a leader of that city more than 300 years. The second result is,The Medicis did not really influence or follow Machiavelli 39 s political methods, but Machiavelli was influenced and inspired by the Medici family 39 s success in leading Florence. Machiavelli Politics at the present point is still the same and still often used by many people, but with certain ways and limitations in order not excessive in running the power and power.
