"ABSTRAKPengembangan pangkalan data di perpustakaan dimaksudkan agar temu kembali informasi menjadi lebih cepat, mudah dan sistematis. Berbagai kemudahan penelusuran dan peningkatan akses serta temu kembali informasi yang cepat yang ditawarkan oleh kemajuan teknologi informasi belum tentu memberikan penerimaan yang positif bagi pemakai. Semua fasilitas yang ditawarkan perlu dievaluasi berdasarkan persepsi pemakai terhadap fasilitas pangkalan data. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif yang bertujuan memberikan gambaran persepsi dan harapan wartawan Bisnis Indonesia terhadap layanan intranet pangkalan data berita surat kabar Bisnis Indonesia. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian survai dan menggunakan kuesioner sebagai alat pengumpulan data yang pokok. Aspek-aspek yang ditanyakan antara lain adalah: kemudahan penggunaan, jumlah komputer, letak komputer, strategi penelusuran, pilihan akses, tampilan layar, kenyamanan, kecepatan temu kembali, keefektifan penelusuran, komunikasi antara staf perpustakaan dengan responden, peran staf, promosi, kehandalan, kesenangan, tingkat kesuksesan, kepuasan, tampilan hasil penelusuran, ketepatan temu kembali, dan penilaian layanan intranet secarea umum dan yang terakhir aspek harapan. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh adalah bahwa secara umum persepsi terhadap aspek-aspek yang ditanyakan adalan positif. Layanan intranet pangkalan data berita surat kabar Bisnis Indonesia ini mudah digunakan, meningkatkan kecepatan akses dan temu kembali serta memberikan layanan yang baik. Dari 20 aspek yang diteliti, kecenderungan persepsi negatif hanya terdapat pada aspek letak komputer dan aspek kenyamanan dalam menggunakan layanan intranet. Harapan terbanyak adalah dapat mengakses layanan intranet ini dari komputer wartawan masing-masing, disusul dengan peningkatan akses penelusuran dan harapan terbanyak ketiga adalan perbaikan letak komputer yang digunakan untuk mengakses.
