This research examines the ideological implications of the representation of race and gender in Modern Family. Utilized with textual analysis through close reading, this research seeks to answer the research questions: how Modern Family engages with the dominant ideology of race and gender and what the final ideological implication of the engagement with the dominant ideology is.
The findings of the research indicate that Modern Family further perpetuates dominant ideology of race and gender instead of challenging it. In terms of race, Modern Family suggests white people superiority over people of color. The research also reveals that in its gender depiction, the sitcom maintains the ideology of patriarchy. In the end, the thesis concludes that Modern Family contradicts its mission to present the modern day American society."

bahasa berdasarkan gender asli mereka.

ABSTRACT
Language and gender have a close relation and they influence each other. The use of language that influenced by
speakers gender is a discussion of language variations in sociolinguistics. This research analyzes the language
characteristics of transgender man and woman in Van Gils & Gasten Talk Show by tracing grammatical
subordinating conjunctions, logical subordinating conjunctions, and relative pronouns to find the complex sentence
structure expressed by both transgenders. The method used is descriptive quantitative method. The results of this
research indicate that transgender woman retains her man sentence structure because she tends to use these three
types of conjunctions more. Meanwhile, transgender man tends to use fewer of these three types of conjunctions
even though he has tried to show the characteristic of his man sentence structure. Direct conversations conducted by
transgender woman named Bo Van Spilbeeck with transgender man named Emile Jacobs on Van Gils & Gasten Talk
Show show that naturally they still retain their language characteristics based on their original gender."

"How are sexuality and erotic desire expressed in language?Do gay men and lesbians have a language of their own? Does ‘no’ always mean no? Is sexual desire beyond words? This lively and accessible textbook looks at how we talk about sex and why we talk about it the way we do.
Drawing on a wide range of examples, from personal ads to phone sex, from sadomasochistic scenes to sexual assault trials, the book provides a clear introduction to the relationship between language and sexuality.Using a broad definition of ‘sexuality’, the book encompasses not only issues surrounding sexual orientation and identity, for instance whether gay men and lesbians use language differently from straight people, but also questions about the discursive construction of sexuality and the verbal expression of erotic desire.
Cameron and Kulick contextualize their findings within current research in linguistics, anthropology and psychology, and bring together relevant theoretical debates on sexuality, gender, identity, desire, meaning and power.

"Do women talk more than men? Does text messaging make you stupid? Can chimpanzees really talk to us? This fascinating textbook addresses a wide range of language myths, focusing on important big-picture issues such as the rule-governed nature of language or the influence of social factors on how we speak. Case studies and analysis of relevant experiments teach readers the skills to become informed consumers of social science research, while suggested open-ended exercises invite students to reflect further on what they've learned. With coverage of a broad range of topics (cognitive, social, historical), this textbook is ideal for non-technical survey courses in linguistics. Important points are illustrated with specific, memorable examples: invariant 'be' shows the rule-governed nature of African-American English; vulgar female speech in Papua New Guinea shows how beliefs about language and gender are culture-specific. Engaging and accessibly written, Kaplan's lively discussion challenges what we think we know about language"
