"ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT
Trees are important components of ecosystem. However, when tree rsquo s collapse, tree can incur loss and even death. Therefore, trees need regular check, especially for trees in urban areas. This study aims to analyze the possibility of collapse of Paraseriathes falcataria trees due to resonance between its natural frequency and the frequency generated by wind. The object are Paraserianthes falcataria Sengon with 14.04m high and 25.1cm diameter. This study looks for the natural frequency of Paraserianthes falcataria trees which is considered healthy and with artificial damage by simulation and experiment. Natural frequency obtained will be analyzed whether there is a possibility of resonance or not. The simulation obtained natural frequency for healthy Paraserianthes falcataria trees is 0.645 Hz and 4.044 Hz for mode 1 2, experiments obtained 0.648 0.128 Hz and 3.95 0.564 Hz for mode 1 2. For the Paraserianthes falctaria trees with artificial damage the natural frequency from simulation is 1.023 Hz and 6.433 Hz for mode 1 2, the experiment obtained 1.083 0.118 Hz and 7.883 0.76 Hz for mode 1 2. The possibility of resonance between natural frequency of Sengon Tree and frequency of wind is really low, so when trees collapse its usually caused by the inability of tree to withstand loads from the wind."
