ABSTRACTThis paper analyzed cultural identity of the Moluccan diaspora group and meaning of lsquo home rsquo to them through the potrait of an ex KNIL family life, the Kainama rsquo s. The story written by Sylvia Pessireron in a roman titled De Verzwegen Soldaat. This paper also used the cultural identity theory from Stuart Hall. The Moluccans reconstruct lsquo space rsquo in the Netherlands as their lsquo home rsquo and try to bring cultural instruments of the Moluccans within it. "

"This article deals with the transnational relations between Moluccans in the Netherlands and the Moluccas. Former Moluccan colonial soldiers and their families were forced to go to the Netherlands because of political developments in Indonesia after the transfer of sovereignty in 1949. They hoped to return soon to an independent South Moluccan Republic but, more than seventy years later, they still live in the Netherlands. This article first describes how and why Moluccans came to the Netherlands and began to build a community. At the very beginning, the foundations for a transnational relationship were laid through village-based organizations and political organizations. After decades living in exile, the political dimension of the transnational relation assumed great prominence for most Moluccans, later to make place for a more varied transnational relation. The political ideal changed and its priority on the Moluccan “public agenda” dropped until in 1999 a new conflict flared up in the Moluccas. A renewed, altered political transnational relation emerged. The transnational relationship also simultaneously developed in more diverse ways, via development projects, cultural exchange, and the like. By this time, the position of Moluccans in the Moluccas in this transnational relation had also changed."

"Makalah ini bertanya tentang perkembangan pembangunan identitas budaya suatu kelompok ketika mereka tidak tinggal di daerah asli mereka lagi. Diaspora dulu dikenal sebagai penyebaran kelompok tertentu khususnya orang Yahudi dan Cina ke negara atau daerah lain. Namun sekarang term diaspora telah dipakai untuk menyebut setiap orang yang meninggalkan negara asal ke negara lain. Dalam kasus ini, orang-orang Maluku yang pindah ke Belanda dengan alasan menolak bergabung dengan Indonesia. Singkatnya, makalah ini akan menjelaskan tentang pengaruh diaspora dalam pembentukan identitas imigran Maluku yang tinggal di Belanda dalam cerita Onder de sneeuw een Indisch Graf.

This paper asks about how the establishment of one cultural identity grows while they’re not in their homeland anymore. The word Diaspora has been understood as the dissemination of certain group of people -notably the Jewish and Chinese- to other country or land. Nowadays it has been used to refer every people or groups that leaves their homeland to other countries. In this case, the Mollucans that moved to the Netherland since they don’t want to be under the name of Indonesia. In short, this paper will also explain of the influence of diaspora itself to the shape of identity of the immigrant from Mollucas that has stayed in the Netherland in Onder de sneeuw een Indisch Graf."

"Krisis identitas merupakan keadaan di mana seseorang mulai meragukan identitas yang dimilikinya. Krisis identitas dapat terjadi karena seseorang menerima represi – represi yang membuatnya harus melakukan sebuah resistensi untuk mengatasi represi tersebut. Karya sastra Onder De Sneeuw Een Indisch Graf bagian De Veertigste Dag karya Frans Lopulalan (1985) menceritakan krisis identitas yang dialami tokoh Ik yang merupakan kaum imigran Maluku di Belanda serta resistensi yang dilakukannya. Jurnal ilmiah ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana resistensi yang dilakukan tokoh Ik untuk mengatasi krisis indentitas yang dialami olehnya.

Identity crisis is a state where someone start doubting their identity. It could be happen because their receive repressions that make them have to do resistance to get hold the repressions. A literary work Onder De Sneeuw Een Indisch Graf part De Veertigste Dag made by Frans Lopulalan (1985) tells about identity crisis that happened to character Ik who is one of Mollucan in Netherland and how he resist the identity crisis. This scientific journal was made in order to analyze how character Ik resist the identity crisis that happened on himself."

"Jurnal ini membahas tindak-tindak budaya, seperti pelaksanaan tradisi dan ritual serta penggunaan bahasa yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat Maluku generasi pertama dan kedua di Belanda pada fragmen “De veertigste dag” dalam roman Onder de Sneeuw een Indisch Graf karya Frans Lopulalan. Metode kualitatif digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa orang-orang Maluku berusaha untuk "membedakan diri" mereka dengan melakukan berbagai tindak budaya sebagai bentuk pertahanan diri. Opresi yang dialami oleh komunitas Maluku di Belanda justru membuat keinginan untuk mempertahankan budaya Maluku tumbuh subur.

This journal discuss about culture acts such as the tradition and ritual execution, and also the language which is used by the first and second generation of Maluku society in Netherlands on fragment “De veertigste dag” in roman Onder de Sneeuw een Indisch Graf written by Frans Lopulalan. The method that is used in this research is qualitative. The result of this research shows that Maluku people try to distinguish themselves by doing any kind of culture acts as a symbol of self defense. The oppression that Maluku community experienced in Netherlands arouses their will to maintain Maluku culture’s development."

Selanjutnya, permasalahan identitas tokoh Frans dianalisis dengan pendekatan identitas budaya Stuart Hall.

This scientific paper discusses the character of Frans on fragment “De Veertigste Dag” in roman Onder de Sneeuw een Indisch Graf created by Frans Lopulalan. This figure lives in two communities, namely the Moluccan community and the Dutch community. This research uses qualitative descriptive method. The structural approach of Erica van Boven, Gilis Dorleijn and Burhan Nurgiyantoro are used in analyzing the character and setting of the story. Furthermore, the character identity issue of Frans is analyzed by the cultural identity approach of Stuart Hall."
